Rode my Super 8 through Deals Gap

I went to Deals Gap last weekend and rode my Super 8 through the Gap 10 times, as well as riding the surrounding area.

The curves were fun.

There where photographers taking my picture.

You can see some of those pics here: http://www.photoreflect.com/store/Th...2&g=0QAK00WK04

just to prove I was there.

All the details are in the ride report I'm working on here:

Way to go Klav, you are definately getting your money's worth out of the Kymco. So did you pass any sportbikes? I had a FL sportbike rider wave me around on my trip last summer, I was on a DR650. I had to laugh inside my helmet.

I have passed a number of 150+HP sportbikes on twisty roads on my dualsport bikes. As for my scooter, as I mentioned, the details are in my ride report

I'll be up there in a month for the summer until Nov. Be nice to have some curves and elevation changes.

Nice photo but you do need to do something about what you are about to drag in the minor lean you are in.

As I mentioned in my ride report, lack of cornering clearance was the biggest factor limiting my speed on a twisty road, It was not as bad as the photo makes it look. If you look at the angle between the bottom of the floorboards and the road, I am actually leaned over around 30 degrees, maybe more. Nothing was dragging at that time so I had more lean angle left. The first thing that drags on the left side is the tab the side stand mounts to. I will be taking a grinder to that. The side stand will likely drag next but it should have a little give. On the right side, the plastic fairing under the floorboard drags first.

Interestingly, when John Burns tested the Super 8 for Cycle World, he called the cornering clearance "GP bike abundant" ( http://www.cycleworld.com/motorcycle...0_-_first_ride ). Compared to the dual sport bikes I'm used to riding, it's lacking. It's still better than just about any cruiser and about equal to a couple of older sportbikes I have owned ( Yamaha FJ1100, Seca II)

When the stock tires wear out I may replace them with tires one size larger to increase the cornering clearance.

I went ahead and ordered the following picture from Killboy so here it is.

Thanks

For those of you who looked at the picture and thought "what is he doing going sport riding in jeans?" (I know there's some ATGATT people out there). I was wearing kevlar reinforced jeans and armor underneath (Shin/knee guards & hip pads).

I just finished my first performance mod to my Super 8. I took a grinder to the metal tab that hits the ground first on the right side. I should have a bit more cornering clearance now.
