n00bs rALLy DV - pics from 1st-timer n00b

Had an amazing time riding and meeting you guys. What a great group and an amazing place to ride. I had the BEST time. Thanks to everyone; organizers, ride leaders and everyone who waited up for me at each corner!

I uploaded some
photos to my Picassa page. I didn't have my still camera on the bike this trip; didn't have good way to carry it. So missed taking some really good shots. But I should have most of those moments captured on the HeroHD helmet-mounted video camera. (It will take several days to edit through all the videos)

I think he is hooking up with the Aussie chick for the ride to AZ.

She is going to wreck him...

i never saw the aussie chick in the camp without a beer in her hand...

she needs to go to Warped. i was very impressed, she rode the farthest distance (from seattle); rode in the dark , in the middle of the storm , hit ice, snow and wind, slept in a tent, party all night, etc....then we call ourselves adventure riders....

waywardrider made us look like wussies....

I really like the south pass/ saline valley/ steel pass loop so Saturday morning MongoX and I made the trip.

The snow quickly disappeared and the temp rose to a comfortable level.
We coasted for a long way on that long downhill

Business as usual at the springs. Not too many campers this weekend.

Ahhhh, steel pass goodness at last. Smooth like a frickin highway

MongoX had a flat and I think it took little more than 10 mins for him to do the swap. Good job sir.

Beavertail opuntia, steel pass

The steps at steel pass

Eureka dune, that is one big pile of sand.

Death valley road, headed south into the headwinds. Up till this point I was pretty confident about making it back on one tank. Headwinds like this really play havoc with fuel economy.

We put in a gallon at stovepipe as we just wanted to get over the pass and back to camp with no drama. I think we would have made it but it would have been close.
We logged 212 miles and pretty much rode all day yet we were beat by three miles for the longest Saturday ride award.

Thank you Joel and thanks to all those who put in the effort to make this happen.
Good to see YFF’s

Three 7oz cans of roasted chipoltes in adobo sauce its a small can with a pull top

1 large bunch of Cilantro stems and all

20 pieces of raw whole garlic,(trust me you need it to round it out)

two big limes cut in half to get juice.... Juice in a bowl put in food pro....

two good three finger pinches of kosher salt or sea salt.... do not use table salt it sucks

one medium onion peeled and quartered

Stuff all that in the food pro...... put lid on turn on hi

let it work and start to blend and roll on itself you will see what i mean get it smooth it will be blended well with pin head flecks of cilantro love.....

when that happens........ slowly add the emulsifer....a good extra virgin first press olive oil about a 1/4 cup niiiiice and slow a stream about the size if a toothpick it will get to a creamy orange....

turn off, pour into a bowl or a rinsed out squirt top ketchup bottle

then open a good I.P.A. you are gonna fuckin' need it.....

and eat it with chips, meat, eggs, whatever..........

it will keep in a fridge for two weeks you could freeze some....

be careful it will creep on ya man'ana

Right on, Seth. Can't believe you hit it hard for all 4 days (I do believe it, but you must be really sore and tired...). Great to meet you, hope to ride together again sometime. -Randall

I almost asked if I could toast my bun, but you looked kinda busy...

Thanks for volunteering and providing us with some tasty chow. It was a long day of riding and it was good to have something warm to eat when we got back to camp.

Or I could have offered to let him jump back behind the grill to toast his own buns.

So, anyway. Sorry I was not more sorry sounding.
