Wednesday afternoon scouting ride with Joefromsf

Here's a video of what it was like up around Saline on Wednesday afternoon. Joe and I caught the tail end of the storm up there, and got a bit soaked.

I want to invite each of you who enjoy the Sequoia trails to become members of Stewards so we can keep you up to date with our monthly Newsletter. I hope the riders who have not yet made a tax deductible donation will consider making one now, so Stewards can continue to help keep the trails open for you to enjoy.
For those who do not know about Stewards you find out about our who we are and our many accomplishments
We are the largest and most successful trail advocates and largest on the ground volunteer organization in the Sequoia Forest

Here is the segment from our April Newsletter

Ron absorbed all the of the costs for the dinner, what a very nice way to help the Sequoia trails we all love
Way to go Ron and thanks to all of those who made a donation. Your support is what makes it possible to stop trail closures in Sequoia.
glad to hear we were able to help. many of us will be in the sequioas on the weekend of the april 22-24. that's a beautiful place and we all have to work hard to keep it open and clean.

ron you are the man.....; i have been riding with ron for 3 years or so, the man was unselfish and he loves to ride.

this takes a lot of work, plus the cuscous, salad, condiments, etc; and trucking the food to PSR which is about hours away from his house.

the tax man....

THAT WEEKEND, WE SAW OVER A HUNDRED OF APPRECIATIVE PEOPLE AND THEY WERE OUTSTANDING IN BOTH GIVING AND HELPING OTHERS.

WE HAVE A GREAT COMMUNITY AND GLAD TO BE A PART OF IT...

Day 3: ~260 miles

Sunday morning rolls around and it is time to head for home. Actually got up early, but still didn't get an early start. Breakfast, pack up camp, then help DSM8 and Oliver load up for their drive back to LA. No idea when we finally hit the road. Doesn't really matter.

Gooood mornin' PSR.

That TA has got some stories to tell.

Looking back down at Panamint Dunes from the top of the Old Darwin Toll Road.
Gonna be a nice day!

Took the side trip down to China Garden and found Super Suz hunting for the road to Darwin.

Gold fish feeding frenzy.

Suz and Sherpa super splash.

Cool rock formation down in the canyon.

A quick stop in Darwin to drop off a postcard. Oooo... I see snow ahead.

Ohhhh yeahhhh!

Centennial Flat with the snow covered Sierras in the distance.

A fork in the trail, and it looks like some other FFs have been here recently.

Climbing out of a long gravel wash.

Approaching Owens 'not-so-dry-anymore' Lake.

Hwy190 looking towards Olancha. Possibly the longest bit of pavement we would see today.

A quick roost on Olancha Dunes. No, there is nothing holding up my bike.

Headed south on the east side of 395 thru Cactus Flat.

Nice area with some fun roads and a few scattered old structures.

Small un-named semi-dry lake.

Looking back at McCloud Flat.

Broke out onto Coso Road for a few, then powerline down to the Red Hill cinder cone.

Crossing over 395 to the west side and following the upper aqueduct road.

The makers left their mark.

Up on the mountainside. Ridgecrest way off in the distance.

Burning a little pavement on the way into Inyokern for lunch.

More powerlines hading south towards the El Paso mountains.
Starting to get cold and windy. We didn't stop much.

1 minute stop in Randsburg. Sunday afternoon and nobody was there.

Racing down Atolia Road towards Cuddyback. We skirted the south side of the lake.

The two little dry lakes behind Fremont were not. I am always amazed to see the dezert like this.

morris holding up the shoreline.

We blasted south past Harper and across Hwy58.
Gusty sidewinds were keeping me tense and I was starting to feel the fatigue in my back and shoulders.

Into Silver Lakes for a stretch and a splash of gas.

Fog flowing over the top of the Cajon Pass. Looks like it might get damp on the other side.

Going over Baldy Mesa, we stopped to add layers just shy of the fog bank.
It had gotten icey cold in the last few miles as the sun set over Angeles Crest.

Yeah... i'm feelin' it.

Under the clouds going down the pass. I15 north and south off to the left.

Home at last.

Good trip
