Part 2 of my RR

Sunday:

After a long Saturday ride I went to bed around 11:pm after the raffle, while most of the riders were still enjoying their drinks, etc...
The weather was amazing again. I think we did this ride right on time, perfect riding conditions...

This time we were going to the west, Hot Springs thru South Pass, then Lippencott to Racetrack and the Crater.

South Pass was open but melting snow made a big mess there. They were offering free "hot chocolate" on the pass and I couldnt resist... But Rich didnt taste it...

Hot Springs road was loooong and treacherous. But we finally made it.

We called and reserved a private pool for ourselves before we head there

We spend about an hour or so before we hit the road again

Did I say that the road was treacherous???

I ended up getting my first bends on the front rim.

Lippencott was absolutely challenging and fun. After the first 1/2 mile of rocks, big rocks and bigger rocks we were thinking "What the hell we got into???" It was like we were rock climbing, not riding...

Rich was glued to the wall, away from the cliff all the way to the top.

It was hot, it was tough, but we finally made it to the top...

I didnt see and rocks moving, and I didnt have strength to walk across the Racetrack to see if there are any on the other side. I was run out of water and we had only Rich's camel back for the rest of the day. I was that close to "death" in the Death Valley in the middle of nowhere...
But right at the second, a fully loaded truck pulled in with ice cold water, AC, etc... I was saved...
From Racetrack to the Crater it was a long and fast gravel road. We were flying (or at least that's what it felt like to me)

We stopped for some pics at the famous junction, and Rich found our official kettle. I wish I had some tea with me...

Racing with my shadow

We made it to the Crater and the sunset was close...

I had a quick nap on the bike, it was comfy...

And the day was almost over and we were heading back to our hotel from Panamint Springs but guess what??? No adventure riding is complete with out a flat, right??? So there it is. I had a flat in the Shell gas station. I thought I could put some air and make it to the Stovepipe Wells but it didnt happen. Rich was driving his jeep with his bike in the back and I had to stop and change the tire right on the pass. It was pitch black and if it Rich didnt help me I would be there until the dawn. Dont get me wrong, he didnt touch anything. He told me "I can do it in 10 minutes but if you want to learn, here is your chance"...
So I did it, right there, from 9:30pm to 10:45pm... It is probably the longest tire change of my life. Hopefully it is... But when I look back, that flat was one of the best thing that happened over the weekend. Otherwise I would never learn how to do it...
No pictures of the flat. It was too dark and I was too frustrated and busy changing the tire, where Rich was smoking and managing the crew (me)...

Finally on Monday morning, I was heading back home on an other gorgeous day.

And somewhere along the way, we hit 7,500 milestone in 7 months...

It was a great trip for me. That almost 900 miles trip showed me that how much I love my 990. It is just an amazing bike. It takes you from point A to point B at 60 mph power sliding on gravel and dirt roads (South Pass to Hot Springs), then point B to point C jumping over the big and bigger rocks at 1.5 mph like a chamois goat (Lippencott) and then point C to point D at 100+ mph comfortably (Crater to Panamint Springs).
990 is a go anywhere, do anything bike, at least for me (as a noob)...
Thanks one more time to Joel, all the volunteers and everyone who took place in this amazing weekend. Hope to ride with you guys soon again...

wow...more nice vids and RR....

the weekend we were there was kinda the almost perfect weather. for others, the snow was an adventure and memorable experience. it leaves a big indelible mark. the dust was somewhat tolerable. all of us put hundreds of mile everyday. the daytime and evening temperatures were perfect. got a little sunny on sunday. the cooler evenings made us gather around the campfire, huddle and met a lot of new people. it was a blessing in many ways.

sat pm

after a nice lunch at beatty, we rode towards ryolite. it was getting late and i want to bail out so i can get back to camp and help prep in evening the festivity.

the last picture of the crew; in as much as i want to see ryolite and titus canyon (yes, it was open), i have duties to attend that afternoon. so i told the boys, just go and enjoy riding.

being solo in a loney highway didn't bother me..there were plenty of beautiful views accompanying me

$10K paint job

keeping a steady pace, i caught up with the v-twins somewhere past stovepipe; they were several who were lucky enough to do titus canyon.

so i made a move to make my presence known

conner's wr doing a great job hanging with the big bikes...thanks to the speed limit

i passed each one, including riddler

we all made it to the camp as law abiding motorists and without a ticket....

So, after getting my motorcycle back from Lior, completely fixed of course, I have been shopping for a dual sport. I drank the koolaid and now want into the off roading frat. I'm totally hooked even though I spent exactly zero minutes outside of PSR campground after I got there.

Ride Reports - Thanks!

Great ride reports guys!
Really great to see the variety of experiences detailed here. So much to see and do. Thanks to all who made it happen.

Been working on a video ride report for Friday and Saturday featuring Nowwhat and Sito. Should be ready in a couple of days.

more video: snow & turmoil

Here's another video. This time of riding in the snow up towards South Pass, and some mechanical difficulties on the trail...

Mini did the same thing with the new Countryman SUV, and had it on their WRC car during testing as well. You should have pulled the tiny piece of electrical tape off the wheel centers to reveal the secret. It doesn't look like the Mini, but it looks ugly enough that I just stopped caring.

Theres a chance we dropped it around the campsite so if some one found it let us know. It should have a SD card in it with some video of the Ural etc. Thanks Cory
