The motor gods have not been good to me this year....

I saw an offering shelf elsewhere on this site, I'm making one after I get this motor back together....

Had to pull the cover off to remove the broken PV shaft.

Here is the new shaft,

Of course the bolts are frozen, had to drill one.

All back together,

Now the top end...Hopefully before Irene gets here...

Screw Irene, that cheap whore. By tomorrow afternoon the teamsters in Philly are going to have worked her over into a 40mph gusting wetsop.

man two strokes are easy :wtf break em fix em break em fix em

granted your shop is like an IBM clean room but it seems like you could do this stuff under the pop up at turn three.

So I have no power, phone, internet, water but I did get to put the 99 back together even after the powervalve hit the piston againand the linkagewas all messwd up. I fixed it old school style without buying parts but making them in the garage. Pics to follow when I get power back, Thanks Irene!

just got power back after 5 days....

So the 99's powervalve was hitting the piston and not opening beacause the springs that actuate the valves are so worn that they grab the shaft instead of pulling them open and closed. I did grind the face of the powervalves to insure that there was clearance between them and the piston. I tried to order new springs but could not get them in time for this weekends race.

Here are the tops of the powervalves without the linkage and springs installed,

Here is a brass tube that i am putting over them to increase the diameter as well as get rid of the ridges worn in from the springs,

Here it is assembled but was still kinda loose

So I cut 2 washers to fit as shims on the outside to keep the springs straight,

Put it all back together and it ran great up and down the road! Hopefully it will last the day at Raceway park in Englishtown,NJ

So... have no interest in racing this weekend after dealing with no power all week and just not thinking about it but....gotta do it! I believe all the bikes are ready and will try and get home early to load the trailer and pack up everything for the race.

Englishtown's Raceway Park http://www.racewaypark.com is home to a dragstrip,Gocart/supermoto/drifting track as well as Practice mx track and the mx track were we will be racing. They hold the Kawasaki race of champions there in the fall where all the Kawi guys future and past show up and race with the local hotshots. Track is totally man made and is very jumpy with probably the bigest artificial step up jump in the world, the elevator is a pile of dirt about 80'? high that you charge up and jump halfway up hoping to clear the top and land on the other side (i don't) and the plunge which is a 60' table top which throws you up about 30' (not me) and many other jumps and nice berms and corners.

It is only 90 miles from my house and usally takes under 2 hrs to get to but I95 through NJ can be the worst road in the country with traffic and it has taken my 4 hrs to get home....that is the only reason I don't ride there other than this one race a year.

Hopefully I can get it together tomorrow to leave at 5 am on Saturday and get out of there early enough that I don't get home at midnight Saturday, thats racing....
