Wow! Your can do attitude is inspiring. I enjoy watching you and others build their bikes.

well today was a bust. Tried to fire it up and nothing.

My machinist friend came over and we started down the list. Def getting fuel. No spark though.

Check the voltage at coils 12V
Checked the voltage at CDI box 12v

I *think* the CDI box is dead. I was reading a thread on the Yamaha site where you jump a blue/black wire to ground and BAM spark. At least I think I know what it is. Also the box had been damaged at some point so it's not a shock. Just sucks having to hunt one down right now just to see if it will fire. Plus I'm leaving on thurs and if I go Ebay I won't have a chance to really road test this before I leave.

Not the circumstances I wanted to leave under that's for sure. I have a local rider who I know sort of that has one of these. I put in a friendly request to borrow his ECU to test my theory. Hopefully it will fire.

In the meantime, I will crank out as much as I can in order to get it running and see how it goes. No question it will be right down to the wire if I even go at all. I know on TV its all drama but this is for real

Getting close now Pete. Joe and I planned on stopping down this afternoon but we both ran out of time. Maybe you can just ride it out of that traffic nightmare area where you live and show us.

yeah def won't be this week. Making good progress today, I'm freaked out I won't have it all done but on the other hand some of the stuff can honestly wait like making a skidplate. I just plan on a road ride down to NC, no gnarly stuff.

Got the chain cut and installed.

Drilled out the sprocket and installed that, need bolts though

Finished undertank wiring. Pretty sure I need a new CDI & fuel pressure relay. Ordering those first thing monday overnighted.

Fininshed tank mounts

Drilled out the crash guards and those are now mounted.

Got the Yamaha lower fork covers installed.

Making brake line guides

need to finish seat tonight to have a prayer of getting everything else done.

It does look pretty badass

Eskort from Yamaha fz1.org is the man!! Big help thanks my friend. I'll even root for the Red Wings in the stanley cup playoffs...

Helluva guy to call me and help me through the diagnosis. He had it in about 30 seconds. I had taken the key switch apart and somehow put something in backwards so there was an open circuit where it should have been closed to fire the CDI.

It runs!!!!!! A little rough and won't stay lit without some throttle. Should be easy to fix. Has a great bark to it, sounds awesome.

Got a lot of work done today, need to go do family stuff so just pics.

This thing sounds so mean, I can't wait to take it out. Will be a couple days at least.

Hey. Yeah it was just me being stupid. The pilot jets are clogged so I need to clean those. All in all, doing okay for a thurs launch. Going to be tight though.
