I think Natalie saw that it's closed until May 15th. It was in the Hood River snooze paper!

I was told around Memorial Day. We stopped getting the snooze about two years ago so I'm out of touch with the happenings around the Valley.

Rode up Jones Cr. Rd. and ran into the white stuff about where the pavement stretch starts. I didn't know they removed the dirt and rock birm blocking the road so that was cool. Was running low on fuel so I didn't see much point in riding up Lolo since I was looking across the valley at it. Do you know if they keep the gate locked at the upper end of Jones Cr. Rd. at Lost Lake?

I'm not sure! I think there are a couple ways to get around it. If AJ is lurking about on here, I think he knows...

Jones Creek & Red Hill

You can get through to Lost Lake campground on Jones Creek. Last summer the gate was open, but even if it had been closed we would have been able to go around. Went up Red Hill today and made it 4 miles before hitting snow, so it looks like getting over Lolo from that direction will be a no-go for a while.

If you can get to the summit from the north side, you wont get over through the storey block barracades they have on the south side. If you know where the road gave way last year (sunken blacktop), they have it closed off each side of that.

Hey Squishy, did it look like they are working on it? Or was it just closed with no sign of being repaired? Maybe i'll run up there tonight and have a look.

They removed the dirt pile about 4-ish years ago,
but fortunately, they did not remove the "Road Closed 2 miles ahead" sign

So...It's ALL for US !!
Jones Creek Rd offers a unique view of the West Fork Hood River & Lolo Valley,
and it's a great back way into the Lost Lake Campground when they're charging fees .
Even with panniers on, the gate (gaurdrail?) is an easy get-around at the top.

It's getting there. Yesterday evening I made it about halfway up to the top on the powerline road before running into snow on the north side Lolo Pass Rd.

Got within I'd say 1/8 mile of the upper gate on Jones Cr. Rd (Lost lake)

And got within maybe 1 mile of the Mazama trail head off of Lolo Pass Rd.

It's melting fast with this awesome weather

still barricaded as of Mother's day coming from the portland area at a slide or washout 2 miles from the Barlow Rd turn off, made it that far and opted out of the offroad bypass cause I'm on the Tiger without knobbies and don't know where it goes after.
