nachtflugs 2011 MX picture thread
the 2011 MX season has begun here in the Hudson Valley. I've already missed an open practice and a first race at one of the other tracks but today my favorite crew the Walden Playboys kicked off their season with an open practice and their first race is tomorrow.
I couldn't get there until 1400 (thats 2 in the afternoon) as prior motorcycle related obligations had me occupied but better late than never. Armed with my first "good" lens purchased 2 weeks ago at B&H I boldly set out to go where many men have gone before. Not quite a "sports" lens but this 17-35 F2.8 (F2.8 means its expensive and takes gnarly pictures) looks rad and with the additionally new extrA battery grip on the bottom of the camera it really makes it look like you know wtf you're doing. which I don't. ![]() start your engines. |

![]() track was moist and somewhat dust free. my 4th season back at the track after a 25 year hiatus. nowhere else I'd rather be. ISO. check. Aperture. check. Shutter. check. this is easy. ![]() ![]() whoa!!! my eyes!! damn near burned my corneas when that one flashed on the LCD. wtf? |

oh yeah.
when I got home one of my poker buddies called and reminded me today was the day I was supposed to take this off his hands. Y2K Drifter 800 with 7000 miles on the clock for the less than Brad Vardy spends on a set of HID PIAA's. How do you say no to that? I didn't. its mine now.

Great photos' 'Flug, just wondering how you like the Nikon. I've always had Canon cameras myself. I'm looking to upgrade sometime soon and your photographs are consistantly sharp and have good colour and contrast. Not blowing wind up your arse, I know the photographer has something to do with that too, just looking for something to compare the Canon to.
Keep 'em coming, nice thread. Cheers Mate.

The best of the best. Just a name. So when I got into DSLR's I went with Nikon. No complaints. I'm sure Canon is just as good though you do see some mention of people using Nikon glass on Canon. Can't say I've ever heard the opposite. But having said that when you see an event where there are lots of pro photogs there seem to be an awful lot of those big white Canon len's. This new 17-35 lens is not a sports lens but as I am now the "official" photographer of this 300 bike collection and museum that will open April 16th I needed the something good for this type of shooting. not that I know what I'm doing but the owner is a friend and likes my camera... ![]() ![]()
