Day 2: The Tirthan Valley

The first thing I did in the morning was to go check the bike and...

..there was a layer of frost over it:



Day 1 had been overcast all throughout but day 2 looked like a beautiful sunny one.

First Sun rays on the distant hills:



These Kids were happy to be clicked:

We moved ahead..Tirthan beckons:




The road was narrow and slushy..

Yes we do have Trout.In fact the Tirthan valley is one of the areas with trout abundance in the state of Himachal Pradesh and angling is being encouraged by the authorities in this area.

We stopped at this place we had read about for breakfast.

The Shringi Vatika:



While they were getting the order ready,

Vishal enjoyed the sun:



While I clicked around....

A water Mill( used to grind wheat/rice /maize):






In the meantime breakfast was ready....had some pasta and pancakes..


After an hours ride,we stopped at this place for a while:



This old lady came out and gave us some Prasad:




She then fed the crows:

We rode through beautiful countryside:









and stopped at a place called "The Himalayan Trout House" for Lunch:


The place is run By Chris( an Indian citizen of Irish ancestory) and his wife.
Ordered beer with trout...

After lunch,we decided to have some fun around the river:

The sun was setting and it was time to head to our halt for the night...we stayed at Vishal's relatives' place.

Hmmmm.....The pace where I live,Shimla is 2200 m above sea level,the Jalori pass - 3120 m....The rest of the places we covered on day two must have been around 1500m.
Next day we headed to Manali - 2000 m and then Solang - 2500m.

We then made a stop at the Naggar Castle,built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 A.D. out of huge stones and wood.

It has now been handed over to the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to run as " The Castle Heritage Hotel"
