What do you want to know about it? I'm glad to see at least one picture of it, I was sort of unable to take any at that point...

I think DSM8 had it made up. If not, he was certainly responsible for getting everyone to sign it.

We had an IBA guy (5 is his IBA number) give a little speech after dinner, he explained that there will be a plaque in the IBA memorial on Guru Lane in Gerlach, Nevada, in Mike's honor.

They then presented the framed piece to Mike's Mom and sister, then we had a toast to Mike's memory, everyone around the big campfire at the amphitheater.

It was A Nice Thing.

Thanks Stu - It was a nice thing. If anything I'm sorry I missed that part of Warped this year.

Riding with Joel...

Best thing about riding with Joel is you end up having zillions of pictures. It is like riding with your very own paparazzi.
Here are a few of Joel's with his new Big Orange...

And more:

Tomer

Dunerat & his lady:

Road closed...

I dont know if this is considered as "water crossing"

That's all for now...

We had all the people I could locate at the camp sign it prior to the Sat night event. The center section was taken from the front on one of the event shirts, the rear design was glued onto the back of the plaque to keep the thing PG.

I also had a ADV pin so that was put into the center section as well. Each person that signed the card put their own message on it of their choosing.

It was then buttoned up behind glass for them to enjoy.

Mostly correct.

Shortly after Mike passed away, his sister Jennifer contacted me and asked if she could come up to WARPED to meet some of Mike's friends. His mom, Gail, called me the next day to ask the same thing after talking to Burke (helikron) up in Seattle. Although they were/are Mike's family, they knew next to nothing about the ADV and IBA communities that were such a huge part of Mike's life and wanted to get to know/experience that aspect of his life.

I told them they were most welcome to come to WARPED.

In talking with Burke, I decided I wanted to give them something "physical" to take home with them from WARPED. I mentioned it to DSM8 who came up with the idea of the framed WARPED VII logo that everyone could sign. He made the plaque and brought it with him and made sure that everyone (or as many people as he could find) signed it. We also added his nametag and a steeker.

The two women in the picture are Mike's mom and sister. Pointman0853 and Rev Keiker both knew Mike from ADV and IBA events and spoke about him and we presented the family with the plaque and drank a toast to Mike.

It seemed that Jennifer and Gail really appreciated getting to experience this aspect of Mike's life, even if they were a bit surprised at the, erm, expressiveness the ADV community has. (Calling out FYYFF's name when he won something during the raffle with Mike's mom sitting right in front of me was a bit embarassing )

At some point in the near future there will be an auction of Mike's gear with the proceeds going to a charity that the family choses.

For me, the only disappointment was that a bunch of the PNW crew weren't able to come to WARPED and I was going to try to put them on speaker phone for the presentation but I could not get a damn signal at the fire pit area. I hope they understand.

Probably the same thing that make him leave 10' of tread up north of Jonhsondale, pressing too hard on the right foot.

Yeah, thats pretty much it. Joel stopped in front of me all of a sudden and I used only my right foot instead of right hand combined.
And as usual, I stopped and then let it go, so that Joel can take some pics and be happy...

And thank you Matt one more time for your kind gift, "FYYFF hat"...

A couple shitty days at work left me too keyed-up to wait for thursday morning, decided to head out wednesday evening and maybe camp somewhere in the desert. Cold and windy all the way up 395, so just kept [driving]. Up over Walker Pass and down past Lake Isabella, arriving MRA at midnight. It was quiet, calm, and warm and the bright 3/4 moon was just coming up. Looked like only one other vehicle in camp. Woke in the morn to the sound of rain tapping on my tent. Only lasted a few minutes and then it was time to get up and go for a ride. I was aiming to play on some single-tack above Sawmill today. The other FF turned out to be ex-SoCal'er focallength, so I invited him along. We suited up and were rolling out just as Gerg was rolling in.

Fire in the sky

Gerg arrives and starts setting up HQ

Starting up Sawmill

Climbing higher

'Tween the rocks trail

Splish~splash

Connecting with the Borderline 4x4 trail

There is hill over here that stopped me last year

This year I brought a better tool for the job

focal didn't quite make it on his first attempt...

... but was determined to keep grinding along...

... and eventually made it to the top

Climbing towards Rancheria, we found another tough hillclimb

Loss of momentum make this stuff really hard...

... but focal wasn't ready to give up

We encountered a few patches of old snow near the top of the mtns...

... then began working our way back down

Going down the big nasty hill we had climbed earlier

Single-track leading towards the lake

A few challenging bits

Some really nice bits

And some really really steeep bits

Still going down, still more down to go

I think focal was getting a bit tired by this point, but no turning back now

Just gotta keep going

One last obstacle before Keysville

Then it was an easy ride up the pavement back to camp

A few inmates beginning to gather 'round the kegs

Thanks Conestogaman for the
Thanks Gerg for the

Ended the evening hanging out around DSM8's dryer fire pit

End of day 1

Not a chance, next year Easter is on April 8th.

WARPED is always (mostly) at the end of April.
