Ride invite 4/30 NW NC foothills

I am doing a longer day ride Saturday 4/30. Let me know if this might interest you.

Leaving Hillsborough 7:30
Breakfast Lewisville 9:00
Ride to the mountain on 421 then through the country
Parsonville, Purlear, McGrady, Traphill, Roaring Gap, Elkin, Pilot Mountain and Lunch
Then Hanging Rock, Campbell, Horse Pasture and break Martinsville
Back to Hillsborough and supper at new place, Hillsborough BBQ figure about 6. (about 365 miles)
This time it is all paved. Next time there are a several sections of dirt.

Possibilities are: to join us at the beginning, at breakfast or at first gas stop 421W and 16, or even at lunch in Pilot Mtn 1:30

If you need to head out earlier
Elkin or Pilot Mtn or Hanging Rock are good places to jump off and head home earlier. For those in the triad area, leaving in Martinsville is a good way to dash back home down 220.

Or just ride over and be there for supper and hear about what you missed (did that really happen???)

Here is a projected map.

NC Foothills tour

Let me know if you want to join us. I can give you more details of what the plan is and some general expectations and answer questions.

Hey NC Stephen! Great to see you posting up. Haven't heard from you in a while. How are things? Any chance you can make it to the mountains the next weekend after this ride to join us at the cabins. It'd be great if you could at least make the cookout in case you didn't want to ride the gravel.

Hey Joe,
I am ok.. work environment has changed so casual access to here has to be pretty limited.
Weekends are hard to claim right now as there is so much stuff to take care off. We haven't been paddling since last June, only camping was at WCU homecoming. Hopefully after this fall things slow down a bit.

And how are you?

a bump...

This deserves a bump.. 468 miles in 8:45 of riding time according to my GPS.

Awesome weather, great back roads (once we got the evil interstate over with up front), nice people. Couldn't have been any better.

Kudos to NCStephen for planning this down to the minute. It's amazing that we made it around the loop and back to Hillsborough 15 minutes ahead of schedule! No dead ends, no u-turns, no stops for map consultation, just relax and follow Stephen.

We had 5 leaving Hillsborough then 2 more joined us at the breakfast stop. My camera didn't leave the backpack so I'll leave it to others to post pics.
