Headed to Deals Gap on Friday, any LEO around?

I think we will get there on or about Sunday, Monday maybe. Might be taking my Speed Trip and will probably need a front tire. Any decent shops about that have Corsas on the shelf that someone would recommend? I think my pal said someone had a good shop in Boone.

I'm likely to go without my Valentine as I just can't hear the damn ting anymore and never look down to see the lights. So copper action is a concern. Has anyone been on the Gap and surrounding areas lately to see if there is much action about?

Any places I should be very careful riding hard? Can't wait to get down south I don't care for it up here in MD and VA as the LEO's are a real PITA and have been denting up my driving record as of lately. can't afford any more and my riding buddies have a propensity to pass people on the double yellow constantly, obviously we all push each other to ride a faster ride... Sound familiar? I hope we can avoid it being a squidfest laden with tickets this year.

thanks for the info any stops you recommend for bike shops or strip clubs are appreciated, we wouldn't want to miss any cool rides or not support the local single mothers

Cops every mile or so from the Va. border on down. I'd go elsewhere.

I was there this past Wednesday and Thursday, and there was no LEO presence. Sometimes there are several cars and a motor cop.

A lotta help, ain't it?

Chris

I only saw one

I saw only one leo at deals last November, Of course its pretty much shut down at that time.

I saw a leo coming when I popped out of a right hander before the overlook maybe. He just waved and kept going. I was moving a pretty good clip and suprised he paid little attention to me

I'm going to pray to the gods of speed that dude is the only cop I see down there!

Wouldn't a radar detector be a more effective than asking random message board posters where they think the cops are going to be next week?

Mostly what a radar detector will tell you in VA is that you are about to get a ticket. Speed traps and some moving vehicles will run constant on, but that's not the norm.

They are REALLY good with their instant on.

I did the whole thing from Skyline drive and back just last week. I got a speeding ticket for 55 in a 35 on Skyline, but then only 3 LEOs the whole 900 miles of the BRP. Can't talk about deals gap though.

You can never tall about the gap.
There could be 5, there could be none.
I was tehre SUnday, super nice day, good crown of riders, saw one at the beginning, had an awesome clean run after that.

If there's a cop, guys in the know will pat thier head as a signal.

Just be aware of fast sections where they can hide around a corner. Even if you run it a t the speed limit, you'll have a good time.

It really is hit or miss with LE on the Dragon. Weekend before last 2 riders I know go popped coming off the Dragon. I think they were cited for 52 in a 30. I believe one of them plans to go back for the court date to try and mitigate the fine. I think he told me the fine was in the neighborhood of between 400 and 500 bucks. Ouch! These guys got nabbed on a Saturday. To make matters worse the next day one of them wrecked his bike. Both him and his wife are OK but his Ultra Classic...well not so good. Go to www.killboy.com and look at April 17th, touring bikes before 12:00 noon. I believe it's the second page of bike photos. You'll see the scrape mark in the road where he grounded out the frame and just levered the tire off the road trying to take the corner too hot. Live and learn I guess.
