The highway, oh what a wonderful road it was.
If I didn't know you better I'd think you're being sarcastic.

It's a good thing Doug is incapable of sarcasm.

A boring ride. Beware of hungry ДПС around Ufa area!

Take care of Tom's machine. I'll be back for a beer with him (and yourselves) next weekend.

Which brand of British iron do you ride?

beers,
Used to ride BSA and Triumph. Not any more. I thought this was a 500cc flat head twin like the ones that Triumph produced in WWR ll. My mistake.

I got to Krasnoryask & found the bike party ok. This one is put on by some friends of mine in the Kentavri (centaurs) MC. I was invited a couple years ago, but couldn’t make it. They were not expecting me, & freaked out when I got there. My friend Kolya gave me such a hug I thought he cracked a rib! Haha Of course they offered me vodka, in case I had started to drink. Sine I hadn’t, they drank anyhow, for my arrival. (not that this is a big deal, Russians will toast to about anything) Of course I must be hungry, so they keep bringing me food until I can barely stand up. The hospitality here can kill ya.
This party is advertised as a jazz & bike fest, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but they had rock bands as well as what I guess could be called jazz, one band even played some Dixieland. It was a bit different, but everyone was having a good time, despite it being a little cold & rainy. A couple guys had an extra bed in their cabin, & invited me to stay with them. Yay! No wet tent!
Saturday the weather was nicer, but still a bit cool. It was too bad, as the party was at some sort of resort on the river, so I was expecting a lot of bikinis, but wasn’t warm enough.

Saturday they had some bike games, including this one, where the girl rides on the back & tries her best to restyle the guys hair with a comb & a can of hairspray.
Of course they wanted me to enter, but my hair is in bad enough shape as it is, plus, I don’t have a passenger seat

Then the guys get to retaliate

Then there was the ‘how many people can a ural hold’ contest

The view from the top

Tire was sagging a bit

Hey, lets see how many people can get UNDER an ural!

They also had a custom bike show, & told me to enter.
They gave me 1st prize, some oil & other bike chemicals. I left the oil with Dominic, & will change it on my return trip, as I had fresh oil in the bike.
Personally, I liked this Ural best

Dom said it worked ok.

Sat nite this band showed up, in crazy costumes. They looked sort of Mongolian, but there are many Buratians here, which have a central asian look to them

Before the band started, they took me onstage & gave the award for the farthest traveled. I got a tshirt from the fest, & a really nice Russian knife with the bike fest & farthest traveler engraved in it. It was a really cool prize!

Then the band played. They were really good, and freaked me out when they did the theme song to Peter Gunn, along with fire dancers

And you thought YOUR bmw was gold plated? This one really was

Of course Sunday it was warm & sunny. I met Kolya & Misho who rode from Moscow & were on the way to Magadan. They were meeting 4 other guys before hitting the BAM road & heading east. They invited me along, & on the way to town, we stopped to see some big rocks. I didn’t know it was a 5km hike uphill to GET to the rocks, It was nice up there, but I could have gone all day without a 10km walk. But we had a good time, & Alexei from Kamchatka came along also. He is heading west on a bike trip, but invited me to visit Kamchatka, so I will, maybe next summer.

Then later we met with the rest of the crew from Moscow, they had shipped their bikes here.

We went to a local shop, as the guys needed to swap tires. My rear is getting a bit thin, but I think it will make it to Yakutsk, where I have new tires waiting. I hope it makes it, anyhow!
