hey sixdays
that first pic? to the right was a beautiful waterfall (snowmelt & rain)
running over the 'road' of course, about a foot deep or so, but I cant be sure, as by the time I got there, it was dark.

yeah. blacker'n a miners ass.

not much fun, but hey, its sposed to be an adventure, right?

I too saw the map, & thought 'that looks ok'

the good thing is, I had planned to take that route last year with the chopper, but missed the turnoff.

Would I do it again? hell yes! But not after dark!

(I almost thought about stopping to kiss that new tarmac!)

Doug

Right on! Makes my puny little 1500 mile loop seem like childs play, and it is in a big kid way...

I thought of this thread when I saw this pic and had to post it up here for your future build consideration...

You call your bike jacked up?! HA!!

Let me know if you are up for more BBQ when you come through this way....

Cool bike - but I don't wanna be a chaine slider or even a chain on that bike! The steep angle of the swingarm hurts...

Less angle with rider and full load.

Yeah, but not that much it would't eat the chain anymore... Or the suspension must be adjusted that soft that this bike would appear offroad like a wild horse or something like that

Cheers, Martin

Love your stuff Doug.

Have followed many of your rides, and exalt in the difference you inspire. Not a Hogg man myself but you quite evidently demonstrate anything is doable, & I love you for showing that and opening up to a wider audience.

Along with Striking K, you're me all time hard nut inspiration. Love you to bits, keep on cruising. Thanks so much.

You always seem to capture the character of a place with just a few pictures. And count on you for unbiased commentary. Round the World Doug, our man on the ground.

Well Thanks!

Tell CNN or someone to hire me. I see them reporters in all kinds of weird places reporting whats happenin. I want THAT job! Just drop me in there with a Honda XL250,
(something I wont cry over if I hafta leave it, plus, they are damn near bulletproof)
a camera, & a bunch of small denomination US banknotes,
(those are handy as information/get out of trouble tickets)
And I'll find out whats goin on!

Hell yea you could do it! I like the visual of you dropping in with an XL250. But you know, with all the spit and polish of a CNN press pass, would you lose your free lance essence?

I spent the nite along the coast, in a tourist town that wasnt in season yet, so rooms were cheap. The next day I skirted Izmir, & made it to Kusadasi for the bike party. It was small, but lots of nice people there. There was a nice old hotel right down the road for 15 a nite, which beats the hell out of camping.

I think the whole bike party thing is pretty new here, or maybe it was just this one, but it was boring. I did enjoy meeting the people tho, and always like making new friends.

Saturday nite, at 10pm, there was a stage, but still no band. They were playing a CD of 80s pop music. It was sort of funny. They did do some bike games during the day tho, and a bike parade thru the town. Ill just have to go to another Turkish bike party, & see if they all are the same.

The place enroute, right on the beach

This stray was on the beach, he had a tag in his ear, which is what they do with the strays here, from what I have found out. Anyhow, we were playing on the beach, tossin a stick around. I went to my room, & when I came out an hour later, he was laying in front of the door waiting for me. I went for dinner, & made sure I got him a bag of extras : )
Cool puppy, Ida taken him along if I had a sidecar.

There were a few old bikes there, but they sat all weekend, & I never saw anyone on them. I think maybe just some collector who was showing them?

This one was with ‘turk choppers’ it has 500 pounds of extra chrome & doodads bolted to it. I guess that’s a ‘chopper’ here. I took a closer pic of it, but I guess my camera rejected it, as I cant find it. The guy was all proud that I was taking a pic of it. I didn’t tell him I thought it was ridiculous. Haha

This is Serhat, he has a Yamaha shop in Izmir, & insisted I try the new 1200 Tenere.
Well, ok, if you insist….
I took it on a 10 mile loop thru the mountains. It was nice, & very fast. But, not something I would buy, just not really my type. Was cool to ride it tho !

Saturday, I went early to visit Ephesus, an ancient city. Ive been to a lot of old ruins, but this place was impressive, and BIG!
I got there early to beat the busses of tourists, as Kusadasi is a big cruise ship port. By the time I got to the far end of the town, it was getting crowded, so I left.
