In the morning, I met with the farm mechanic, & he has a welder! I show him my stand, no problem!
I looked thru the junk pile of steel, but couldn’t find a pipe, but found some rebar.
He cut the remnants of the barrel off

And welded the rebar on. 3 pieces, triangulated around the stand. His idea was to just lay the rebar next to the stand & weld it, but I amazed him with vice grips from my tool bag

I got the mirror ready to weld also

And Voila! The stand will now support a Kamaz!

Man, that is so awesome to see such a unique and totally different part of the world, and to be welcomed too!
I'd say that waking to the sounds of a machine gun qualifies as an adventure alright! Thanks for taking us along, I really appreciate it!

"One of those guys was from france. He asked me how well I was treated in the area, beause the locals hate Americans. I said they have been fine. Theres only one country I have been to where the people were rude to me just because I was an American.
He asked where that was?

france.
He didn’t say much more to me after that. And I was glad of it."

That was damn funny

Speaking of Tool Bag. I am still curious to see what you drag around with you in the way of repair stuff. Snap a pic when you get the time and if you could be so kind.

Nothing wakes you up, like the gentle sound of a good 'n' solid AK47.

Great reading, cool pictures Now, with all the additional weight on the side-stand, is the spring strong enough to hold the stand up?
