Don't worry, only another 1000 km to yakutsk, and then 2000 km along a worse road to magadan--almost there!

That's shocking. In '04 they were claiming they would build that road and everyone just laughed it off. I guess the road builders showed them (us).

Great ride man.

Funny how that looks just like the California desert and mountains...No wonder the Marines have a desert training complex at 29 Palms in the socal desert...It looks identical to that.

No more Ganja?

DAMN,I really HATE it when that happens!!

Great pix BTW! It's good to see your having a good time being what we can only dream of, well, for the most part.
Those monastery pix were great, hard to imagine so many people going up and down that goat path.
Ride safe, have even more fun for us.

Nope, Doug's was much better.

I think it must be something in the Alabama water. I have never heard as many creative similies as from AL.

When I got to Tynda I met Max, who was following my spot tracker & waiting for me at the edge of town.
He said he had never been to Magadan, and asked if he could come with me.
Sure, why not? Max has done the western BAM, so I figured he'd be able to keep up with me

Anyhow, he is the manager at the Kamaz shop in town, so we hung out for the day, and left yesterday morning.
We got into Yakutia where we were stopped at a police checkpoint. Max hadnt registered his bike (drz400)
Its the russian way, hahaha
well, we got to the police, and I got thru ok, but then they asked him
'where bike number?'
or something similar. So after an hour of arguing, they have decided to keep his bike until the docs are fixed.
They tell him he can go to the town & talk to the boss, if he wants, so he takes a taxi, & I follow behind. We get to the police station & see the boss.
Max lays on a line of shit 5 miles long, about how I am some special american, and he is travelling with me to Magadan, as its the first Harley to go there, and I may get lost, and if the bike falls over, I will need help to pick it up, etc...etc
It sounded like some bullshit I'd try, and I was proud of him.
Keep feeding the cop BS until he is so confused, and hope he agrees, simply to just get rid of you.
And he did.
So Max got his bike back (much to the dismay of the road police, who thought it wouldnt happen)

another fun day in Russia!

Doug
