Okay I see it now. I didn't dig deep enough on the site. You have to click on the smaller tank and then you see it as an add on. Thanks!

530 vs 500

I have had my 500 EXC now for about two weeks and I can say with out a doubt I miss my 530. The 500 seems a little lighter, but it's missing the bottom end torque and top end speed my 530 had. 2nd and 4th gears are worthless. The bikes seems like it is going to come apart running above 60 mph in 5th gear with 14/48's. The bike loses all of it's power about 9000ft. This bike was a disappointment for me.

If you run 14/48 and 15/45, you can run the same length chain and won't even have to adjust the axle-blocks. All you have to do is flip them around. At least that's how it works with the older bikes.

Sory you are having a less than stellar experience. This is the first one I have heard of with this specific complaint.

Just a suggestion but have you recalibrated the FI when you go to altitude. I know they say you dont have to but letting it run at idle for 15minutes lets the FI recalibrate for the thinner air. I have a couple friends that have them and go above 11.5 K without ANY issue or noticable power loss.

Gearing I dont know what to tell ya. I dont know off the top of my head the diffferences between the two internally...

I run a 14/54 and can do 60 without even blinking I can push it to 70 if need be. With the gearing you have I would think you coud do that without exherting your self very much. Something doesnt add up.....

You are the first person I've heard say anything like that. I'm very surprised. Your 530 must have been a great bike to make you feel like that. Have you desmogged? Would that help with the lack of power at 9000 ft? Ive had my plated xcw now for like 3 weeks. It has13/50 gearing and I would agree I don't like 60 in 5th but once I shift into 6th its like ooh yeah this is nice and thank you ktm for adding a gear.

I'm coming to this bike from a 2010 wr250x so this thing has amazing and ridiculous power to me. Every time I roll on the throttle I can't stop grinning ear to ear. I love this bike. I raced a 2009 Crf 450r in motocross and this bikes handling and power and quality of suspension feels very similar to me.

I would dig deeper too. Something must be wrong cuz this bike grunts and hauls ass.

Just spent 10 minutes diagnosing and it was the ground wire to the pump in the tank. It came off. There is a small barb to hold it on and it must not have been pushed down enough to click in. I clicked it in. Pump worky now. Yay!

I changed out the two fuel filters in the tank while I was at it. One of them looked a bit clogged. I'll clean it with carb cleaner and use it next time.

I will get gas today and fill the 5.3g tank and take it for a little ride to see how it feels.

I'll put the new spare pump I bought into the small stock tank since it only takes 5 minutes to change tanks. The big tank for technical dualsport and stock tank for technical singletrack.

I was hoping that was the cause.. I was quite surprised to see those exposed spade connectors in there... I would have thought they'd use some sort of fuel proof sheathing or something.

So both 13/50 (stock xc-w) and 15/45 (stock exc) take a 118-link chain? Is that the consensus?

I can understand missing the massive torque of the 530. I do from time to time. But the 500 is a rever and thats part of the reason I like it so much.

I ride in Flatistan so I have no issue about running out of power.

Sorry you are disappointed.

Its all in your head , there both 510cc but they are different ECU's upgrade the mapping and you will never want the 530 back .

my bet it is on the easy map not a the aggressive map

Speedo Blackout

Has anyone else had issues with their speedo. Both mine and a mates have lost illumination while running, both are still collecting data and display works for a period when button is pushed. Both bikes have done around 50 hours and have a blown headlight, possibly a related issue?

Unfortunately no exc owners on here answered my question about the size of chain they have. On rocky mountain atv/mc under machine specs I found the answer for myself so hoping its correct.
