My new AdvMonster lights should be coming in soon. With the sun sitting earlier, I'm really stoked about putting these lights to use. I got one Flood light and one pencil beam.......this should work well for single track.....I hope...

Tinkering?? Heck yeah....ALWAYS tinkering

But seriously, this bike is amazing. I lucked out and found mine off the orig owner who had it spec'd out already....and for my weight (susp mods).

But its geared 14/50 and I have both the FI tuner and the switchable ign map. You can lower the hit using the switch - better for muddy/single track stuff.
I've run it on crazy two track and some really intense single track. Not to mention, here in Tenn., we see a ton of mud. I can hook up in the mud better than anyone. They will crawl as good as anything I've had. The last single track we ran was in
West Point, TN where they run some national enduros. I did wrestle with it a little in some of that stuff.....but that was primarily due to not having a damper. Seems the 500 will dance a little when running tight stuff with a lot of rocks and roots. But I popped on a damper last week and we rode some real gnarly stuff Saturday and the bike was amazing.

These rocks look a lot easier on the vid - not single track, but the bike tracked well over sections like this:

Seen it elsewhere in the report. Part of your bulb is bad and is shorting out. Replace it. I popped for the Baja Designs Squadron LED insert for my stock shroud. Expensive but worth every penny.

clutch noise ?

A few days ago I took delivery of my new 500 xcw.

The bike runs well. I've done the first oil change and at this stage the bike has 5 hours on it.
When I changed the oil, there was almost no steel filings on the magnetic drain plug, none on the gearbox oil screen, and a few flecks on the engine oil screen
Its my first KTM after running two DRZ's and an XR .

There's a clunking noise I'd like some opinions on. It seems to be coming from the clutch when the bike is idling, in neutral, clutch out.
If the revs are increased or the clutch is pulled in, the noise goes away. This noise was there from zero hours.
Idle is set correctly at around 1800rpm.

Is this normal ?

Thanks....is the Squadron "plug and play" or are there modifications needed such as stator.

Plug and play. Plenty of power on board already. No need for a stator upgrade. It is not street legal but Baja Designs makes a dimmer switch that allows you to control the brightness and theoretically get around the street legal issue. The kit provides spacers that push the stock shroud forward to provide clearance for the backside of the light assembly. It actually helps solve clearance issues if you have a HDB setup.

Squadron is awesome, but IMO I would skip the BD dimmer with the clumsy remote and get a Skene or ADVmonster dimmer instead.

mine does it since early hours too, and most of my bikes too, it' s some "freeplay" on the clutch cage

don't worry about that and ride it ;)

What's the clearance issue with the HDB setup?

Thanks

Put my squadron on the 500 today and a quick zip tonight to check it out. Wow! I was street riding and felt like I was doing something wrong (more than illegal!). Sweet color of light, and it only pulls 3.2 amps

Take a look at these lights before you jump for the Squadron lights. http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hst...012/Detail.bok . Plug and play. Dimmer too.
I have some on order. $170 plus shipping.
There is a thread in the vendors section that covers lighting.http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...07184&page=188
