Stock exc ECU modules just get reflashed to EU spec. Then mapping switches work no problem and bike runs awesome.

On 500 anyway.
cool, thanks for the advice. i talked to the owner of the dealer back home about it and he said they can download the map and install it, all i need to do is send the ECU to them. since it's free of charge i think i'm gonna give that a shot. let's hope they actually know what they're doing.

OK, my dealer called me back & the Euro map he found looks like it has been revved from an earlier post. The new # is: KM787EU12C0701. Interestingly. he said that some KTM race guy told him the Trail Tech switch like I have either doesn't work properly or causes problems, and that only the KTM map selector switch will work. Not sure if he's blowing smoke, but I sent an email to Trail Tech asking for clarity. Their website states the ECU must be unlocked and a competition map must be loaded for the switch to work. Does the Euro map acheive this.

I am taking the bike in on Sunday to get the map loaded but would really like to avoid having to blow another $150 on the KTM switch & lose the money spent on the Trail Tech.

You can't flash the 500 exc with TuneECU. Only the dealer's XC1 tool will do this. They have all the latest maps in this years update.

The map switches will not work with the stock map, or the Euro map, only the Akropovic/Austrailian map. Read back through this thread for the exact map number.

XC1 tool reflashes stock ecm with EU map that ends in "701" as the code

Does work with map switch.

My bike pulls like a freight train in the stock setting on my map switch. Wish I had a softer setting actually for single
track.

Muffler is new style FMF Q.

Pretty sure tuneecu tunes the map. xc tool loads the map.

Wilsons in fresno will take care of you they know all about the maps. I have sent a few people that way to get it done and they have all been happy. would have had mine done by them but bought my 500 out of west virginia and they did it there.I have had no stalling ,popping or any other issues with mine since i got it and it has the euro mapping.

Scratching my head a little; the XCW is the off road version, not the EXC. It should already have the good map, unless you added a fairly open exhaust and need a richer one. Are the XCW's green sticker legal? Is that why the dealer won't flash it? Otherwise, why wouldn't they flash a dirt bike?
