Im sorry to say but 2 more projects have arrived in the Skunkworks, with only one exiting

I now admit I have a serious problem . . . .

I need a bigger Shed

I was offered Future's R100LT - Bobber project bike at a fair price, this has a full staintune sports exhaust has a YSS rear shock and a spare Koni and will become a racer style bike

This is what was left, how could I say no . . . .

Then a mate of mine who recently purchased this R1150GSA went over the bars 'OldDog' Style in the dust in South Australia and was airlifted out to Adelaide by the RFDS with a suspected broken neck. Steve's neck was fine and the bike has mainly cosmetic damage. Panniers bent and busted instruments broken and bars and RH crash bent. Shannons wrote the bike off. Frame and forks etc are fine. Rear subframe may be a bit bent but Laurie Alderton can take care of that.

Its a repairable write off, Steve bought the wreck and we are off to the RTA on Thursday to get an authority to repair, hopefully???

When I called the RTA the lady initially told me to take it to Queensland. I then explained that I want to repair the bike here, reluctantly she faxed me the RTA Application forms.
There is / was a way that if you owned the bike more than 28 days, and the owner is repairing it and it was written off before 1/11/2012, then you can get an Authority to repair.

Steve meets these criteria's

This is part of the letter from the RTA

Hi Ray

Yep and it has to be lodged by 1 February 2013, just in case this applies to all bikes, and not those written off before 1 Feb 2011

Well, we got the authority to repair, and there are a few hoops to jump through

The R1150GSA has left the Skunkworks due to room constraints

I need to fix a few bits on my R80G/S, cracked sump, then the DRZ462e is on the bench for assembly

I also have to build a R80/5 engine for a mate who has been waiting patiently. I know there wasn't a 800cc /5 but there will be soon

Oh, and there is a new Scrapper under design and construction . . . . .

Old Yajuu is being retired

I like that Rhys

I remember these being built by the Camden boys for Scrapheap 2011, but it didn't make it. There were going to be 2 of them.

Maybe sanity prevailed!!!!

Well made a good start night last night.

Changed over the Steering head bearings and fitted up the tripple trees and front forks and Steering Damper post.

Rest of the time was spent going through boxes of parts that came off the bike somewhere

This is one of the joys of a basket case I suppose, but I have taken a few pictures taken during my part of the tear down. I also have the manuals and online resources like thumper talk OEM Fische's so I a quick look at a photo and it falls into place.

I picked up a newer swingarm and noted the 2000 E model swingarm rocker / cushion lever has grease nipples and the 2009 one I bought doesnt. Maybe a weight saving exercise cause them nipples are pretty heavy

The other slow part of this process is the acquired bike wasnt cleaned before if was pulled down, so every part of it is either oily or muddy, so needs to be cleaned as it is reassemled. Again a good way to check over everything as you go. The rear subframe is just sitting there and will be cleaned to day and re installed.
