I (think) the Yamaha chassis in the photo above is a DT1 - it looks like it's had a paintjob and sidepanels, to look like an old MX1 Yamaha (pre-cursor to the YZ range)... and yeah, the aircooled RD engine does look at home/period correct in that frame/set up.

That'd make a pretty awesome historic class dirttrack/short circuit racer I reckon.

I have the PE frames and bits in transit
I will have a look through what I get.
I know there is a 400 and two 250 frames, but no engines.
Unsure about what other bits are in the job lot
The one on the pic above is a frame photo I found when researching the possible build options for the RG Scrapper

Pezz I empied a tank on my air cooled GT250 today - cast your mind back ...they are really thirsty. Got a spare G/S 33 litre tank to fit to it - so you can get a 300km range?

That was my biggest worry with any two stroke bike used for ADV type riding.

My RZ was 10 or 11l per 100K, and my 200 EXC was about the same.

So that made a trip almost twice as expensive on fuel as any of my four stroke bikes I have had, and then add another $30 for a bottle of decent oil every 50L of fuel and it starts to get cheaper to put the bike on a trailer and tow it to the good riding.

But as a one of novelty thing it's a great idea.

Im trying not to remember Davo

I am aware of the fuel consumption of two strokes, but the water cooled ones may be better than the aircooled ones Davo. I hope. I liked the old GT250 Ram Air's is your a GT or an X7?

The old XR460/4 was very heavy on fuel too, with 130k's being the limit of the 14lt tank. It probably leaked as much as it burnt

I reckon I will need a range of 150k's. The RG has a 17lt tank and also have a 8lt Nomad bum tank too. That will give me 25lt.

Besides I dont ride that fast

I don't want to sound negative or piss on your skunkworks. I reckon the theory is appealing - they would be an absolute hoot - I always wanted one of those RZ chookies.

I dont think you will find the gamma's were much better with fuel. But it is about fun, and twoies are fun. Also very reliable if you dont f with them. When I was young it was reeds, chambers, shaved heads etc all this did was concentrate the ponies higher up the rev range - fun for a short while but it always ended in tears. Expensive lessons were learn't about hot and cold plugs.

A nice stock LC350 decoked, with well set up suspension and fresh tyres- I'd like that.

Had a top weekend last year playing around Moss Vale with these fellas.

Hearin' ya Davo

Plan is to keep the RG as stock as possible, with no performance mods. This is not my daily ride, but a design exercise and working with what has been offered, to build a two stroke scrapper.

I am realy looking forward to starting on it.

Righto Pezz, do you think you can get the corpse into Skunkworks R&D before September 19th? It's a full moon on the 19th so we'll be able to perform "the rituals" and then get started
