Perhaps some photos of what Dave is suggesting would help. Here is our QFS base plate. This version fits with our 35L (Pelican 1550), 25L (1520), and 34L cases because the oval shape mates with the oval lugs on the bottom of these 3 cases. You can bolt 4 of these down to any flat surface...
![]() The quarter-turn fastener with sealing washer goes down through the case. The length of the stud is matched to the particular case 25L, 35L or 34L... ![]() Now if you want to use some other case, there is a universal version. Here are the base plates... ![]() And here is what fits on the back of the case... ![]() Inside the case hardware, and quarter turn fastener of a standard fixed length (not specific to any case).... ![]() Perhaps what we need to do at Caribou is put these products on our web site in a way that is more buyer-friendly. We'll get working on it. Hope this helps. -rog

+5 on the MOD rack. In my opinion it's the right balance between being big enough to securely hold larger bags, cases, etc and yet not overly big and clunky. I love that the rotopax bolts right up to it as well. I also have the MOD bash plate and the fit 'n finish on both is top notch. Great product!
Incidentally, I bought the SW Motech rack at the same time (got it cheap from an inmate) so I'm able to compare side by side. The SW Motech rack is fine and for around town and carrying smaller stuff it would be ok, but on longer trips it just wouldn't be nearly as versatile. It is more sleek, however much that's worth to you. Anybody wanna buy my SW Motech rack?

Thanks very much for jumping in and providing the pics and explanations. I really like your QFS mounting system! What I was intending was just using the "universal" DIY QFS kit on it's own and placing them on the MOD top rack in the appropriate locations and then mounting them into the top box to suit. What do you think? ...and thanks lm002e! Dave

Alt Rider
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is the Alt Rider rear rack. It comes with the pre-drilled holes for the Rotopax. I like how the rack is rounded and follows the contours of the bike. It also fits with the BMW ADV luggage.

LOL...I'm still planning on this setup Dave! I need to spend less time taking trips with the bike and more time saving for farkles I guess. I'll be sure to post some pictures of the setup.

QFS on MOD Top Rack
Quote:
Courtesy of Fastredbike -Thanks!! ![]() In this pic they are mounted to the new version of the MOD Top Rack. You could still mount them on the previous version. The mounts will fit on the top (front) no drilling needed. For the bottom (rear) you could drill some 1/4" holes or use a plate to cover the underside of the large rectangular cut-outs and drill that. Or you could mount one or two rear mounts through the slots, no drilling needed. More details on the Top Rack here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...536723&page=15 Thanks, Dave

Can anyone tell me what they paid for this ???? I ordered one from Northern Colorado Euro Motorcycles. When ordered it was stated the price would be the same as from MOD ? I was billed $274.99 You gotta be shitting me ? For a rack. WTF- I spent less then half of that on a equal or even better rack for my 990. It will be sent back if its that much. Who else paid this much ?

Just to follow up. They did bill me incorrectly and I was refunded the balance,( I have not checked statement yet but they were really good about it), and the actually cost was $138 and change. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt leaving a bad mark out there on a good vendor. I would buy from Northern Colorado Euro Motorcycles again. |

Rear Rack
I am looking at a rear rack also, but don't really like or need a big square plate, as I really only plan on using this on an occassional basis - not planning on invading Russia, just strapping on items picked up on day rides. .
Ideally, the rack would be plate aluminum and tapered in width from front (wider) to back (more narrow). Looked at Twisted throttle and that is close. Saw one on a web site that I forgot to add to my favorites - it was from Canada - that's about all I can remember of it. Anyone familiar with this company and it's products and if so, can you send me some contact information? |

Glad to hear you got it straightened out and thanks very much for getting our Top Rack! Hope you like it too! 1fastjunebug, The MOD one is from Canada, and it's tapered...it's shown above with Caribou QFS mounts installed. Maybe that was it? Can't think of another one from up here off hand. email: dave(at)motooverland(dot)com or website below Thanks, Dave

MOD Rack in Australia
Having previously purchased one of Dave's side stand feet, i knew how well his products were made, so I bought one of his top plates as well.
Fitted today with a minor drama with a spinning rivnut (which Dave helped me out with also). I don't think this guy sleeps....... Anyway some pics are warranted. ![]()
