Mine works fine in the mount with the charger attached.
so what's different between that one and the desktop one?

I don't know, apart from one is 240v and the other is 12v.
The book says that it will not transmit in the desktop charger but does not say anything about the 12v cigarette plug in charger. Try it it works.
I read the blurb from the seller and it also said it would work on the 12v charger which is referred to as a battery saver rather than a charger. anyhow it works.
Cheers

Moved to a place more fitting

As you can see the mods have come up with a brilliant idea for an Aus Vendors section, and kindly allowed me to sell my wares here

The mount has evolved a little since the first model
Here are the latest pictures

A few minor issues with regards to radio fitment and the slide being a bit tight have been ironed out.
It has also had a bit of a facelift. Those that already have one might notice the slight differences.

The price is still $98 excluding postage.
Postage is $10 regular mail and $12 express.

I currently have 6 on the shelf ready to go and a further 18 being machined this weekend.

Please feel free to email or PM me for further info or to order.
craigkrantz@gmail.com

If any of the current customers have any feedback, positive or negative, please feel free to post here. As well as any photos to show your setup are greatly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Craig

It is a KTM part. I managed to find it here - http://www.ktmpartfinder.com/

The assembly part number, which isn't on this list, is - 58212090144

Hmmm, interesting, thanks for posting Aquatic.
Rang my local KTM dealer, can get that part (roadbook carrier) at a cost of $84-20 after squeezing them a bit.
Just wondering if i'm better off with that and your radio mount, rather than having the unit (078sx) in my jacket breast pocket.... it would be easier to adjust scan and volume settings etc if it was mounted on the bike I guess.

What are people using for actual coms though, just an earpeice etc?

I contacted Pactel here in Melb, they have their own (apparently) wiring set up with velcro insert earpiece and microphone for locating in your helmet, plus a push to talk button for mounting on the bars, for about $149.

Is that OK, or is there better? Important issues I guess are clarity, and being able to disconnet easily when getting off the bike.

Any comments, feedback, or better options?

Cheers

Richo, I recently picked that part up from the states for about $28. Had to wait for it on back order though but I think you will have to wait from oz too.

Can't comment on the comms side of things as don't have a radio but a mate has a baehr system on his bike with everything connected(Ipod, GPS, UHF radio, etc) and then 1 cable with a male/female connector going to the mic and speakers in his helmet.
His UHF is on his dash with a PTT button on his left bar cluster.

A number of people have stated that they prefer the radio on their person. I guess it all depends on your needs and requirements.

When it comes to mounting the radio on the bike, I only know of 1 other product available. But you would have to ask others for a comparison. As I said, I don't have a radio.
I was asked to develope and build the mount with certain criteria in mind - rigidity, vibration resistance and lockable.
