Nice honor Tink. Congratulations.

BTW, I want new shoes. Are those Avon's I see? Did you mount them yourself or use a vendor?

Sorry about the tire question! I won't ask about oil.

It's always a bad sign when your parts supplier knows your first name

First class job there Brian. That bikes a credit to you.

Took the day off work to tour PROJECT-S around and visit with some of the people that made this bike a reality for me. Thanks everyone. TINK

Yes, those are Avon Roadrider AM26 tires from American Motorcycle Tire

Yes, I mount/balance my own tires http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...&postcount=104

I see you're local. perhaps you could come by my place for a Tire Tech Day and I could shoe them on for you. PM me.

Ride Report #1

It's Sunday night and I've put PROJECT-S to bed for the night.

300 miles (okay, 299.7, but who's counting) on her since rebirth.
Brakes have FINALLY bedded and I can actually lock up the rear tire now.

Rode to The Rock Store this morning. 65 miles each way, 130 mile day.
High speed (okay 65 mpg) run up the freeway. She's got long legs and likes to roll out on the open road.

Rode past Paul of RockStorePhotos twice, just be sure he got a shot I can buy.

Not too much interest at The Rock Store, mostly a group of self centered loud mouth "I'm important" (it their minds eye) types there.

Did run into Eugene Garcin with his /2 (I think), Eugene is a regular at Vintage Bike OC.

Clutch is strong and I'm getting the hang of the gear box.
Even did a few "rapid" accelerations with "quick" gear changes.
It is surprising how quickly she will run up to 60 mph and leave the stop light traffic in the mirrors.

Throttle takes a "Manly Man" to twist, not for wimps.

More miles to come. Looking forward to bonding with my "vintage" friend.

Eh? "O" no and extra o-ring

Did an oil and filter change at 300 miles post retoration. The oil in the engine was fresh when I picked the bike up and I decided to just ride the bike initially with that oil at first as it was still clean and clear on the dip stick.

Went with Castrol 4T 20W50 SG for this change (no, this is not an oil thread... just the facts ma'am).

Pulled out the old two piece filter and noticed the seal on the inside was deformed, stuck a flash light (a torch, for our UK friends ;-) down in the hole and what do ya know, an old red round seal was still on the shaft at the bottom.

Fished the o-ring out, installed the new two piece filter and I was good to go.

Hey Tink, do you know the source of the Heel toe shifter you have?

Do you like it?

It's the standard R100RT shifter. It seams to work fine, www search shows it's the preferred setup, although I never use the heal feature... creature of habit, I guess.

Thank God they never offered the "WHITE" seat in the U.S..

Hmmm, never seen that before.

They must have dropped that on the monoshocks, mine doesn't have it.

The white is very Elvis like, in a European kinda way!

p.s. I just looked at the fische for the pre 85 RT's. It shows both shifters as an option, so that's interesting.
