Francis Marion National Forest Wambaw Cycle Trail Update

The US Forest Service, Francis Marion National Forest, has issued a Public Notice on the “Wambaw Cycle Trail Expansion Project”.
This project would include the following improvements:
a) Adding a new section of single-track trail. The proposed location for this added section would be on the North Loop, starting just before the entrance into the “dark woods” section near mile marker 8. It would begin with a turn off the main trail and loop through the adjoining woods and would tie back into the trail near mile marker 8.5. This would be a 36” wide (motorcycle-only) trail.
b) Developing a new trailhead at the existing Honey Hill Campground on Hwy 45. This would provide for an alternative starting point for all riders to use.
c) Adding a new one-mile section of trail to connect the north loop to the proposed new trailhead at Honey Hill Campground.

As with all proposed projects on the Francis Marion Forest, the Public Notice is issued so that members of the public may offer comments to the Forest Service in support of the proposed project.
The Coastal Off-Road Riders Association (CORRA) has worked toward the addition of a single track section since its’ creation in 2011. As such, CORRA fully supports the project and hopes that all who receive this information will offer supporting comments to the Forest Service voicing their desire to see this project go forward.

To make a comment in favor of this project, you should email it to:

and copy to:

Also, in order for CORRA to monitor the amount of public support sent, please also copy your email to:
hal@electricsupplycoinc.com

THANKS!
CORRA
