Didn't ride it yet. Leaving July 15th for Denver. Im riding 3 days of the 9 day trip to the Oregon Coast. Total off road miles 2400. So I will be doing about 900 miles and handing off a KLR 650 to my buddy in Moab and he will ride with the group to the Coast.

Then I will fly back to Denver and hang out in the mountains for a couple days with my family.

Should be a blast, I'm really looking forward to it.

I will take a bunch of Pics and post them up here.

Im not sure if anyone is posting up the whole trip but I figured I would post up my 3 day Adventure here.
My buddy Chris has all the new TAT maps from Sam and has taken care of all the logistics. He has ridden
the whole TAT once before.

One of the guys, Dave, is racing pikes peak so he hauled the KLR 650 out to Boulder from Atlanta for my buddy Jason in Knoxville.
I'm up the Philadelphia area, Mullica Hill, NJ.
The plan is all starting to come together.

Ride day number one. Clayton, NM.
I flew into DEN on friday and took the bus out to Boulder. Chris had the bikes ready to go.
His new to him KTM 950 Super Enduro. His Dakar bike KTM 640 Adventure was loaded for a spare.
The KLR 650 that Jason picked up for the trip and I am riding to Moab.

So we grabed a quick bite to eat in Boulder and went back to Chris's place to grab the bikes and his wife Spice.
Spice is amazing, she drives the chase truck, handles all kinds of the logistics, and does it all with a smile.
Spice will parallel us on the main roads during the daytime in case we need anything or meet us for lunch and meet us in the evening at the hotel.

Chris and Spice:

David drove from Atlanta to Oklahoma and rode his 990 Super Enduro to Clayton to meet us at the hotel.
He is going to ride back to Oklahoma after he gets to the Oregon Coast. The gang should hit the Oregon
Coast today to finish the 9 day ride.

Marc rode down from a town outside of Vail, CO. He also has a KTM 990 Super Enduro. Marc is on the left:

In Clayton all the hotels were sold out. There was a barbed wire convention in town.

David and Marc had to put some new off road rubber on there bikes for the trip:

Here I am wishing I had a New Ride:
Chris did let me Rip It for a while, the Motorcycle is amazing:

Two birds of a different feather: They both have 2 wheels and thats about all they have in common:

Heading into Colorado things started to get green.
Due to everyone's limited schedule Chris condensed a 12 day ride into 9 which meant our average milage per day was almost 300.

The town we rolled into next was Westcliffe, CO.
The KLR started to act up and died just before we got into town.
We pulled off the carb and I cleaned out the pilot jet and checked the main jet.
We also checked for spark, compression, and inspected and tested the vacuum operated fuel petcock. The KLR started and ran down into Westcliffe but that wouldn't be the last of the problems the KLR had.

We stayed at the Rantler or Antler inn. The town was also booked up due to a big Rodeo going on. They said things may get a bit rammy after the Rodeo lets out but we slept through the little bit of noise there was. The biggest thing we noticed in the morning was a bottle of jack and a bottle of coke on the running boards of the truck in the parking lot.

Then the KLR died again. We pulled the carb off again, put it back together, but just couldn't keep it running.
We towed it down to the bottom of the Canyon and gave Spice a call. She would bring the truck and trailer with the KTM 640 and we would swap it out with the KLR.

Chris towed me down and David and Marc pressed on to the next cool town. I didn't want to leave when I got there. It was the kind of place you just wanted to hang out in.

I told you I didn't want to leave, I was just fine sitting under this tree in the shade. I just needed my wife to
wire me some money. Not sure how long that would have lasted though.
