Tubed Tire question??
In a pinch does the slime tire sealant actually work for a punture on a tubed tire? I'm looking for a temporary fix for a flat on a tube tire without actually taking off the wheel and changing the tube. We ride in the middle of nowhere so there won't be a truck coming in and picking the bike up. Any suggestions would be great, I seen the tubeliss system, not sure about that, wish the 800 had tubeless tires seems so much easy to fix with a puncture kit.

Tyre guardian
Check this out : http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=tire+guardian
I have used tyre guardian for 8000 miles or so. No flats, but no punctures. I don't notice anything. I bought it again for my new tires. Time will tell but after reading I think it's worth a shot.

I have used Slime one time.. A 16 penny nail had punctured the tube early in the day. It worked great, and lasted until I wore that tire out.
![]() Others complain about the mess when changing the tire out, maybe they used it on a tubeless tire, I don't know. For me, Slime worked great, and I still carry some with me. Along with patches, and new tubes.

Aren't there tubeless and tubed versions of Slime?
The tubed version probably eats naked rims for lunch

I've tried it three times, and it worked once. Probably depends on the nature of the wound. Worth a try if you have it handy.

I've never seen slime work in a pinched tube. Also note that if you get a flat while riding and don't get stopped before the air is all gone you'll probably have lots of pinches and a torn-out valve stem. Personally if I have a tubed tire go flat i stick in a new tube, no screwing about with patches, slime or other gooey substances

I've used Slime (tubed) twice.
Got it from a bicycle shop at the time. First time it didn't hold a 100% as it was a nail that went through and made two (big) holes in the tube. It would hold air for about 30mins so I would stop, pump it up and go again. I was out on a logging road, in the eve., so I didn't feel like fixin it out there in the dark...and I didn't have to because I could make it home...eventually ![]() Didn't find it too messy either. Second time it worked perfectly! Like someone mentioned above I ran it until the tire was dead. It stayed in there for at least 3000km's and then I had it switched out with new tires on my way to Baja. No problems on the highway either. I still carry one with me at all times now (in my MOD tool box on the skid plate). Dave
