Turkey to Iran border crossing

Hello there

I'm travelling solo around Turkey and about to head over to Iran in 10 - 12 days (end of May). Is anyone else going that way that would like to meet up so we can cross the border together? Not sure how they will take a single female at the gates :-)

Cheers

Likely it will be the wrong country's passport which may give you more of a problem.
Try to keep to their customs as well.

Very best of luck in your travels.

Any pix of your bike?

Should be ok for passport - and yes, ensuring I'm sticking to customs will be imperative - but one custom is that females do not travel alone so I will see. Just don't want to pay for Carnet and not get in!

Bike photo's are on blog - should be titled how to be a chicken in Turkey - but finding my bike legs now:

Hi the crossing went very smoothly. They needed the carnet and my passport. I ended up crossing with another male rider so they didn't even want to talk to me ;-)
The insurance you buy separately when you have finished with customs, it's down the hill from the main checkpoint. You can get it cheaper outside the gates.
Iran has wonderfully friendly people (mainly) but they were often very confused and sometimes suspicious of a solo female rider. As it's illegal for Iranian females to ride and not culturally acceptable for females to travel without a family male to accompany them, I just didn't fit into any of their 'known' buckets. The blog has the travel updates :-)
Cheers
