Kudos to the guys at FMF
In the spirit of pointing out quality service and support of our big orange machines, I wanted to give a
to Nick at FMF in California. He was very helpfull and willing to go above and beyond in helping me find some information I needed. As to the pipes themselves... wish I would have done them day 1.

If you bottem out really badly you will put a hole in the right side muffler form your rear brake bleader screw. I just found that out the hard way. I still love the FMF pipes though.

What is it that makes some exhaust get hit by the bleeder? I too have FMF's that do NOT hit under full bottoming, but I have seen Remus' that have the bleeder hole. Are some people getting the exhaust hangers mounted backwards? Are their mounts bent?

I have found that when you bottom out hard enough to squish the rubber bumper out of the gap at the bottom of the shock, all kinds of bad things happen.

I'll take a close look at mine when I get home. I just thought it was 'cuz the FMF pipes are ovel and the stockers are round. I was loaded with about 80 lbs of gear and flying through Baja when it happened to mine.

Yeah, wouldn't it happen with the stock cans then?
Talkiing of hanger mounting. Is this correct mounting (Ti Q2). Previous owner installed them. I pulled them off the bike without taking any pics. Mounting inside the frame mount seems the only way, tabs on the FMF hanger have to come together, and pipe doesn't align with header if you mount to the outside of the frame mount. crazybrit screwed with this post 05-11-2011 at 10:24 AM |

Yea FMF directions say to mount on the inside like that. ( Mine doesn't have straps like that the tabs are part of the pipe )

I noticed when I had the pipe off that I could see (looking through the front end where the header mounts) a metal screen but it was cracked/coming loose. Unlike the OP, FMF support has never given me a warm-fuzzy feeling ![]() Also, any chance anyone has a spare one of the grey rubber things. Mine is falling apart on the inside. FMF only sells them with the clamp/bracket. Suppose I could just use innertube when it finally gives up but the grey looks nice

they only have black insulators and yes it sucks that the bracket is included....but if you need an alternative I use (since I am a high rise window cleaner) squeegee rubbers in a pinch and they work fine..
http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CDsQ8wIwAw# I have a cosponsorship with them and they seem to be a good company plus made in the USA.. Maybe you are always surly or always whinge madbrit??

They are not the TI, but I hung mine on the inside. That causes them to rotate inboard (based on the FMF logo). I thought it was just the "look" but later realized I could have prpbably swapped the pipes L>R and gone on the outside for a straight lineup on the logo. I did not check this and probably never will. :)
I may have the instructions... will need to dig a bit.
