Wivelshire brain failure

As most of you are only too well aware changing bikes demands a certain amount concentration, underpinning knowledge and functional memory with regard to starting and controlling the machine. Then, once you’ve got the little darling idling the time comes when judicious use of the gear selector is required. Left foot or right foot, up for up, up for down is about all my current string of has beens and never wozzers needs though I know some of you do hand-change, statistically at least one of you has or has had a bike with neutral at the top of the box and I know for a fact there’s a Bridge Clubber with a Honda Hawk (automatic).

It's natural

I for one find that I don't have to think about it. Typicaly I can jump on one bike for the day, or switch bikes mid day and still don't have to think about it.

That's not to say that I haven't gone for a quick stab at the rear brake, only to find that I've made a clutchless downshift...
(because I have)

I like R side shifting. You have the left foot planted, you slam the kickstarter, you grab 1st gear in one quick easy fashion.
None of this L foot to ground, switch to R foot to ground dance.

Oh yes. Yesterday was the first time I've made the choke lever mistake quite so tellingly though.
Wet here.

Nice set here - bridges and weirs, someone's gone to some trouble. Good to see it.

Not all the lights are blinding

Yesterday was a special one here on Bridge Club, not only was it the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul and the first day of the second test (Pakistan v England, Abu Dhabi) but I had a little wayfaring enlightenment all of my own.
