Taking The Tablet

Actually it goes like this – a friend of a friend takes The Tablet magazine, when he’s finished with it he passes each edition to my friend who, as a good Bridge Clubber tipped me the wink about the possibility of an interesting and historical photo.

Given that the Trophy 500 is in dock with a leaky old fuel tank and my hips are aching too much for the Velo (I’m sure they designed it with Admiral Lord Nelson in mind) I took the Big Butch Harley to investigate.

Partial history here.

I'm pretty sure I don't have to caption this one.

derwent valley peak park england

Two villages were flooded to make these reservoirs many years ago

This part was used to perfect Barnes Wallaces bouncing bomb as it mimiced the German targets of world war two

The farmers at the time had to sign the official secrets act

Nice shot. Your post has me looking at maps of the area for future rides. Is there any place to camp up there?

i love finding old bridges.

new meets the old.

not sure why its closed.

except for this... something big had to hit it. im assuming when it was flooding one year a tree slammed into it.

this pic doesnt show it well, but to get the bike over there, i had to put down a long flat rock over a probably 10" washed out crack that went down to the river bed. then i had to tip the bike way to the outside(it looks like more width then there really is) and walk on the steel gaurd rail cables while i idled the bike through there. it was a little sketchy. but what the hell.

Someone else's bike

Hope this is not too off topic ...

And so to trial.

The occasion is the 2012 Lands End Trial organised by the Motor Cycling Club. http://www.themotorcyclingclub.org.u...s/landsend.htm

Due to pressing commitments in Colombo time at Ladyvale was limited to about twenty minutes, due to operator ineptitude the only Triumph photo which came out was this splendid Tiger Cub on a ‘C’ plate, probably ridden by Rick Lees from Dursley.

Trial report here
