Damn, I bought last week, and the best price I could find was $449. Bummer. Since this is my first "outdoor" gps, there has been quite a learning curve. Fortunately, folks here have been incredibly helpful. I still have no clue what I'm doing most of the time, but at least I have it configured fairly well (I think). I have yet to test it on the trails with the topo map I just downloaded. We shall see how it does.

A quick and dirty rubber mount solution for the Montana...

I had these kicking around from when we had a 76S rubber mounted on our old F650GS single.



They fit nicely between the AMPS mount and the Rugged Mount.



The only reason I want to try these is that when I'm taking a picture with my Montana 650 while riding on my DR650, at higher revs, it's obvious that the camera is vibrating so this should help. I don't take as many pics with the Montana these days since I got my GoPro, but the SilentBlocks were just kicking around so I thought it was worth a try.

In your Globeriders Montana blog you mentioned not liking the screen protectors that come with the Rugged Mount.
Which ones do you like? Zagg?

I use a ZAGG InvisibleShield. But, they don't have one for the Montana 600 Series. I requested one last year but that didn't go very far - not enough customer interest I expect. So, I use their zumo 660 product and cut it to fit - a sharp pair of scissors will do the job.
