640 Adv. Carb ?

My '02 640 carb - BST 40 - has 2 shim washers under the needle (part 36 in the exp. drawing on pg.14). One is silver and a little smaller (and thinner) than the other which is not silver. It also has a little step in the bottom of the slide where these shims sit which makes them sit off center/misalign w/ the hole in the slide. Is this set up correct? The clip is on the forth groove. Slide is drilled to 0.125". M. jet is 142.5 (stock) - change to 152.5? 155? KTM screen airbox sideplate installed. Exhaust is SXC. Central Va. +_ 500'.

Thanks,

SRG

Sounds like someone decided they wanted a richer needle... I wonder why?

I'd start with a 152.5 and go from there. Leave the needle clip on the 4th groove and remove the non-stock washer, sorry I can't remember the correct "color".
Shimming is a common thing, but in this case I can't see the advantage.

Of course... if you say it has a killer mid-range... I may have to shim my needle.

When the mood strikes... sometimes it's easier to shim your own needle than look for a helping hand, ya' know?
