Great weekend.... With a few surprises

What a great weekend.

Ladybug was always busy doing something to help others... Here she is making breakfast for 70 of her ADV friends Cannot thank "Bug Sister" enough as she put in so much time and effort to make this a great event!!

Sasquatch getting ready on "superbug" for his Suspension Seminar. Was a great topic for the ADVR's to ask questions and learn!! Great Job Jay

Saturday was a bit rainy.... but did not deter us from riding.

Unfortunately Bauhausbier had engine trouble on his Honda 600XR. So he spent the day in camp .....

Heading up the famous "steep and rocky" with Allan. It was fun !

Allan trying to get us in trouble

Ladybug got a little Thank You for her hard work on the campout. New "laby bug Socks" and Knitted ADV Hat!!

Thanks to Loud Al... A great group shot!!

As more rides come into town bringing gifts Sector felt I needed a "deer Slayer Syrah" Thanks Sector....Owe you one!

After dinner was a real surprise. Lady Bug always has a few tricks up her sleeve Unknown to me, she had been busy PM'ing the ADV attendees about a "going away" surprise for me. Guess I am living the dream

I was presented with a card that a Donation had been made to the Alzheimer's Association in Honor of my late Wife Chris. As a man of words, I did not have to many. Very thoughtful for all who participated.

But that was not all..... There was more....

Glad Jay did not drop the cake.....

They had also gotten a "radioman Rides the World Cake" made for me.

Including snoopy riding, a Globe, and seems like a few rocks along the road

The surprises were not over yet....

I have been told good things come in small packages

A Buck knife with an inscription "Faith Hope and Courage ADV RTW" whichj have been words with deep meaning for me as I cared for my wife Chris for many years. They will carry me forward as well.

Thank You all !!!

I get to give "Bug Sister" a Thank You Hug!!

Hells Canyon

Nice meeting you Radioman. I hope you have nothing but good luck, good beer and a nice warm place to sleep every night. I enjoyed my first Hells Canyon ride very much. If they'll let me come back next year, I'm in.

You be safe and have some great adventures on your way around the world! I'll keep looking for you reports.

Radioman is special to most of us in the Northwest as he is to people all over. For someone this special we thought a few special things to honor him and his late wife, Chris, were in order.

A few people weren't able to get time off work and were on short schedules but made a special effort to be there for Mark Sat. night. Mr. Vintage, Sector, and Rainbow007 all showed up when it really wasn't going to happen this year. Others showed up as well just to be there for Mark.

Since Mark has been downsizing things we didn't want to present him with something else he would need to deal with and Smilin' Jack thought a nice pocket knife would be small and useful. Lucky for me the Buck knife factory is only 20 miles from my house so he now has a factory direct knife.

Getting the knife.

If you make it to our area maybe we can head over to the factory for a tour and lunch. They have a cafe at the factory and the facility is very nice.

Go Mark Go........RTW

Week of June 20th

Was filled with getting more done so that I am ready to get out on the road.

New Bike needs to get title, plates and tags......

Few new parts showed up..... and have to look at the rewiring that needs to be done.

Decided that the "weak" rims will not be good as I ride the globe.

Removed the wheels, and got them shipped off to Woody's Wheel Works in Co for new excel rims and Superlaced spokes, and Tubeless on the rear ....

As I continued to get ready to actually get out on the road, still have found lots of stuff that needs to get done. But I start my day normally up having coffee with these guys! They have been supportive during difficult days taking care of my wife, and as I head out on this next chapter. Thanks Guys :)

Just a few items of repair on the GSA to get ready to ride.

Had to repair a bracket connecting the skid plate.

and replaced the starter...

Had lunch with my step son on Thursday.

finally got the required paperwork on my new bike to get the title set up.

and after 45 minutes at DMV. New license plates and tags!

Staying with my departure date of Saturday June 25th, even though my buddy John will not be able to make the first part of the ride. Just gives me one more day to get packed up, some much needed yard work and then I am off to see the Space Shuttle Launch!!

You mean you still haven't left?

"Just sharing this quiet time is intimate, our tent, our bikes and our faces illuminated by yellow light from the fire. This is why we travel. To experience those rare moments of perfection of solitude of life."
