Mark,

We've never met but I've been keeping up with you for a year or so and have grown to admire you a lot. I'm retired and still ride all I can. Long trips are my favorite thing and you are starting on a long trip for sure. We are located in the panhandle of Texas and if you ever get around this area and need ANYTHING just let me know. The very best to you and many blessings along the way!

Started my day with a ride up Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Was hoping to ride Hwy 191 over to Park city.

But too much snow this year!

Met Ranger Ken at the gate, and he rides a motorcycle. We had a great conversation!!

Then Back racked down the canyon, and headed south east.

Sunny and very hot today

rode a long day into Colorado.

many thoughts on this day of riding, but time to get some rest!

You mean you take speed limits as a suggestion?

Yesterday Morning. Had to check out Salida..... Where did I go?

Where is Hayduke? Unfortunately Hayduke and Bonnie were out of town

Road to Colorado Springs to see my Cousin Jean and her family. Also wanted to ride up Pikes Peak.

Pikes Peak, CO 14,119

Taking pictures on the way back down...... Beautiful views

Just a bit of Colorado Dirt on the way.

My buddy Max the sasquatch mascot from PowerMax found an interesting sign. Wonder if they are related

another great day on the road!

Then I got to Spend the rest of the afternoon with my cousin and her family. It is a long story, but they had one of there twin daughters hit by a car 3 years ago. It is a miracle that she survived, but has been a very difficult road as she recovered, and is now trying to relearn speech, and mobility. Was just good to be able to spend time with them.

Going to Peaks Pike is one of the places I want to go since my early days of playing the PS2 Gran Turismo game. The scenery is just amazing Mark. Thanks for the pictures. How did your bike tolerate the elevation?

Excellent Mark. I was stationed there at Ft Carson back in the early 80's and I don't remember that much pavement going up Pikes Peak, I rode alll over that mountain range on my 78 PE 250.. good memories.

BTW that radar detector will become invaluable the farther east you go

I'm here Go Brother Go

John, the bike did not miss a beat rolling up the Pikes Peak :)

Sam! Fort Carson seems like a really big place, Colorado is a great place to ride!!

And as I rode out of Colorado Springs heading east. The mountains changed to farm lands.

What always amazes me is when I am out riding in places far from people.... I see FedExpress and UPS trucks out to deliver packages.

Stopped for fuel. Interesting label on the Pump.

I stopped for lunch in Holly, CO here. it was good heavy food :)

headed east into Kansas....

Then south into Oklahoma

and then into the panhandle of Texas. It was 105 degrees and windy (which every time I have been here is the same)

lot of this today as I head to Houston to see my cousin and her family

Rode until dark!

Another great day riding, even if it was hot and fairly straight roads. Just enjoyed the time riding!

Regarding your fuel up picture. I never thought that that (1%)little went to the owners pocket. Subtract the overhead and I now understand the need to have stores at the gas station because gas alone won't cut it. Great pictures as always and keep them coming but most importantly keep safe.
