Hit the weather perfect in the PNW.

And as we were touristing around the Seattle Area, I got an email from Frank and Petra whom I met with Young James in Panama and spent New Years together 2011! They were wrapping up there 1 year on the road just returning from Alaska before they fly home to Germany! So great to see them and show them around!

We did a little drive around Seattle.....

Pike Place

What a great week back in PNW.

I am now back in Portland staying with good friends and getting so much done before returning to South America.

Bit of a note: My plans have changed a little bit more, and a close family friend is getting married, and he is like my Son so I will stay in PNW until September 10th or so. This will allow me to enjoy the Great weather, get some work done of my House in PDX and up on Whidbey Island. Will probably just do a weekly Post over the next 7 weeks until I return to Ecuador! Adventure continues...... Just short intermission while everyone in North America enjoy the summer!

Great to hear that you are going to be around for a little while. I will be on the upper coast over in Olympic NP Aug 13-16, maybe we will cross paths. You see a Goldwing with space pod attached, that will be me.

Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just shoot you.
I got a real good feeling something bad is about to happen,

Mark, I saw you mentioned that you wear your Motoport jacket onto the plane when you fly. Has that ever caused you trouble in security or anywhere else?

I might be doing another fly-and-ride soon, but this bike doesn't have saddlebags and I no longer have my Cortech soft bags, so I'd pretty much just be taking a standard backpack with my overnight stuff and riding for 2 days...would need to wear my Motoport stuff onto the plane.

Sorry for the somewhat off topic question!

No problem. All moto related.... Going through security I just took off the gear and put it on the belt to pass through screening. Done. Really easy. Few strange looks from other passengers though

Friends

In light of the tragedy in Aurora Colorado, it is easy to reflect on life and how fragile it really is. Whether by another human being or accident, life can change in an instant. To me, it reenforces that each moment that we live is precious and one that should be cherished.

Personally I have so much to be thankful for. As I spend time at "home" connecting with friends and family it is clear that I am very fortunate.

Yesterday I had lunch with Howard who has been a great supporter of my travels as his lovely wife suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. He has done a great job caring for her for many years, and is a great example of the commitment a husband makes. Thanks Howard!!

And the guys I have coffee in the mornings have also been very supportive of my adventures. Bob, hosted a "post India BBQ", where we got together to eat great food and drinks and I shared a few videos of my time riding in India and the Himalayas!! Was a great evening. How many "Goodbye or Welcome home" parties can you have?

One thing I can Say, Is that Bob and his wife Barb, set the standard for hosting a gathering. Wow!

As part of the Party, I had Kuluu Hats from Northern India, and everyone had to wear them

Homemade Guacamole

Then a special screening of some new video footage

Radioman sharing a few stories..... Lots of Laughter and banter!
