Still watching Mark...enjoying your travels. The only advice I can give is, get out of those hills and head for the sun around the Gold Coast, and further north, mate. The only time I ever stood in Australia and it snowed on me was at Glen Innes - at this time of the year too!!!

Good on ya.

Sometimes I wonder if I would want to ever change a life like this... After so much time, it all seems so natural coming to you. You deserve a never ending travel and "good wind in your sails".

Best,
Vic

Yesterday I rode from Casino up to Murwillumbah and then back down to Byron Bay. Was clear until I reached Byron bay. Lots of people there due to school Holidays.

But I rode there to see this.

Got the photo .... Too grey and misty to do a big jump. Will save that for later....

And the lighthouse at Byron Bay.

Then I turned the bike north to head to Coolangata. And into another Australian State. Hello Queensland.

Rolled into Coolangata on the Gold coast.

Stopped at the Drift coffee shop. Had a nice chat with a local woman named Kelly. Asked about places to stay and she was helpful and friendly.

As I arrived and found a hotel, the bike drew some attention. One guy asked if his kids could get a photo with the bike..... I did better, they can sit on it. It was a fun interaction with a very nice family!

Took a walk to check out the surfers.

Lots of surfing men and women.

As I sat at the local "surf Club" deck and had a drink and watched the world go by. Met a couple school teachers who were just about to head home from Holidays.

In the little bay nearby someone had a sense of Humor, and painted a big rock green with frog legs....

The gold coast is all built up. High rise hotels .... Had a little deck to watch the road, as I was expecting my friends to arrive any time now.

And sure enough, I heard them pull up to the hotel. Dick and Diana Hubbard have arrived

They are here doing a tour about, and of course we had arranged to meet up along the way. So nice to see them. We had a great evening at the other local surf club that had "shank and Jazz" night. So we enjoyed both!

Hi Mark

I have FINALLY got caught up from page 1 all the way to today. Boy have you covered some ground and seen some amazing places. It was fun to check out the photos that go along with the stories you told us when we met in person.

And I definately want to go to Antartica now! I blame you!

Thanks again for taking us along on the ride.

Hey RM it looks like you are getting all kinds of weather down under. I was wondering about your Klim gear and how you like It compared to the other stuff you were wearing back earlier in the ride. How does it do with air flow now that you have reached some warmer climes? How waterproof is It really? Do you carry rubberized rain gear?

The Klim gear is working out very well. It is well made and comfortable. (It is similar type of gear as my Motoport Gear in materials, and protective armor) The reason I personally love "Kevlar Mesh" is that it is really comfortable for me in warmer climates (which I tend to ride on my longer travels). At 70 degrees (18C) or above, I tend to wear just light tee shirt and shorts and the flow of air is great.

In the cooler mornings I can wear a layer or two underneath the jacket, and pants to stay warm and comfortable.

The Klim Gears comes with Stretch Gortex outer shell. In the heavy rains I have been dry. But One day leaving Sydney I did not cinch up the lower draw string on the shell, and had a little bit of moisture wick up on my polar fleece under layer. At a stopping point I noticed and made the adjustments. Stayed warm and dry after that.

Hope that answers your question.

We stop off at the Nymbodia Pub. Lots of Russell Crowe memorabilia on the walls. Somehow he is connected to this area and the Museum.
Russell Crowe owned the pub, he had it up for sale not sure if he has sold it, he may still be the owner.

Packed up in Coolangata.

Not too sunny, but weather temp is great!

As we packed up and rolled out of the hotel, there was a large group of young boys who were on a Footy tournament. They were liking the bikes and have a little video for later.

Then off down the coast.

Rode up the coast, and unfortunately tons of road construction in Surfers Paradise made for a long ride 23 Km to the BMW dealer in Southport where I needed to pick up oil and oil filter for servicing my bike. Past my Warranty now at 40,000Km, so I will do as much bike service as possible from now on.

It's a Harley/BMW shop .... The guys were keen to chat about the ride

Look a Trike for my KIWI friend Ken

Dick and Diana deliver me, and sign me over to another ADV rider who posted up in tent tread. They headed north and I was hanging out a few days here on the Sunshine coast, sort of waiting for my new rear wheel to arrive from woodys. Checked the tracking and it should be in OZ today, maybe delivered to Sydney Monday.....

Next morning i took a walk down to the beach.

Through a little nature reserve.

Now I am in the land off sunshine and beaches!

Actually it is still cloudy, so I decided I needed to get my oil changed. When to remove the drain plug. Last mechanic was superman, with an air wrench The hex started to strip out

Fortunately there was a Motolife BMW dealer just down the way, that had a spare plug, and they were able to use a cold chisel and remove the old plug for me while they cleared my codes.

And I got to look at some cool bikes.

Then back to Locky's place to change my oil ... He even had a lift .
Cool.

Changed oil, inspected the bike. All is well.

Staying with Locky who does Aluminium Panniers for Bikes here in OZ.
