As my rear hub was getting worse, it seems like the more I was aware of it

Thanks to Woody's Wheel Works for getting this wheel sent out, and for SYDADVGS for forwarding the wheel onto me in Brisbane.

Was up early on Wednesday Am and rode 100KM back down to Brisbane to pick up the package and then get it fitted and get back on the road. The Sunshine coast was not too sunny

I rolled into the couriers office at about 8:15 am

Initially they said that the Sydney packages had not been unloaded
Then I gave him the tracking number but he could not find it in the system ........ Finally figured out he wrote the tracking number down wrong So I rode down the street to have a cup of coffee and some "brekkie"

He called 40 minutes later to say he had my package and I could pick it up anytime!!

Off to find Tyres for Bikes in Albion about 5-10 Minutes away!

I arrive, drive into a dry spot in the shop, pull my old wheel off, and open up the package of my new wheel.

Dave was great and very helpful. Decided to have a new tyre installed on the new rim.

Got a new Mitas E-07 Dual sport tyre. A compromise but it will last across the country!

After it is all fitted, I roll back up to the Sunshine coast and stopped to drop the Old wheel off to Lachy. He will get the hub sleeved and hopefully find it a new home for someone that could use it! Here he is on his new purchase R60/6

Then back up to PanheadPetes House to repack my gear on the bike and ride north! Thanks Pete for letting me stay at your place enjoying the Sunshine coast!

I rode north and rode to Biggenden on a mix of main and back roads!

http://radioman.smugmug.com/Other/Ri...DSC05983-L.jpg

Then into Biggenden

I meet up with Jock Adams at the Commercial Hotel for Dinner and some conversation. He reckons that as we ADvriders are all "wanders" which is why we can connect up and have an evening of conversations just like old friends.

The Pork Chop with Garlic sauce was really good

We were talking about costs in Oz, and Jock said that people use all kinds of ways to reduce costs!

Jock must have liked the USA as he had a wallet with some greenbacks

Have seen alot of these premixed drink bottles in OZ and NZ. Never seen them in the US but they are popular here.

It is great to have the rear wheel issue resolved and so glad to be riding with confidence again! North I go!

Good to see you didn't stay on the coast road. Biggenden is top spot, I'm sure having a yarn with Jock () could have lasted well into the night.

Thursday Morning we rode out of town to some nice sunny weather. It always feels great when the sun is out and blue sky leads the way.

Jock showing me a bit of his neighborhood

The famous Postie bike.... He'll get the record for riding across Australia

Then Jock leading me out toward the main road.

Then a little ride through an old tunnel

Thanks Jock. Appreciate the time to hang out and talk and showing me around a bit.

As I roll up the road ....

Stayed the night in Rockhampton before heading north to Townsville. Had a splitting headache all afternoon, that would not seem to go away. So I was glad to stop for the day.

For your peace of mind:

Been running the Mitas here in Canada for a couple of years now. Hands down, it's the best tire I've ever had on my GSA. Good stick wet or dry, wears like iron (12k miles/20k kms on my last set), and you can play in the woods all you want.

Been through a lot of different tires on my GSA, it has 110k miles on it since new in 07, and these things are the ticket. For where you are, you'll be happy at the choice.

Keep calm
and
Ride on.

From Rockhampton I was just heading north. A day of riding the slab for 750KM, to Townsville. Looking for warmers and sunnier weather!

Lots of signs warning or Fatigue and dangers of driving while Tired.

Reached the land of sugar cane fields!

More than a few stops for road works heading up the A-1. Know it was not the most scenic off road ...... but was heading north.

Some dark clouds and a few passing showers on the way up the road!

Arrived Townsville late afternoon. Met up with RoaminRob and stayed at his place overnight. We were up early and took a great walk in his neighborhood before riding north to Cairns.

In the Tropics again!!

Sunrise! great way to start the day!

Always dangers here in Oz....

Off we ride north to Cairns with a long loop around the Atherton Tablelands

Sun was out most of the day!!

Traveling on a Saturday lead to lots of "grey Nomads" with there campers. (note the wheel cover on the back.... Guess I am Adventure after Dementia)

Banana Plantations like in Costa Rica

Riding the Gellis Hwy was great..... Some clouds and sprinkles!

Made it to Cairns and met up with Rod who I was on the ship to Antarctica with last year!! He offered a place to stay. Had a great dinner with some Mates of his that all ride bikes and it was a great evening!!

This Am set up a couple day live aboard dive trip to Barrier Reef!! So tomorrow morning, No Internet for a few days..... Just off to swim, take in the reef and diving!! Hope my 20 year Old Padi cert Still works

When I went on a live aboard out of Airlie Beach into the BGR, the dives were all world class, riding turtles, night dives, sharks at night, whitewater rapids thru the coral rings, drift dives, Whew! some of the best dives I have ever done were there.
Both Magnetic & Fraiser Islands were excellent, camping on both was memorable. You are a bit north of them, but if you pass them, check 'em out.

Thanks for the inspiration that you are. You are living my dream, making me question the meanings of life. Not many people leave that mark on me, thanks Radioman.

ps: ever passing thru So.CA. please make contact, I'd love to take you out for dinner & drinks. Not to mention a place to stay.

Sunday I was able to book myself on a 2 day 1 night barrier reef diving trip. Loved the moto parking spots

I did one in Cairns over 25 years ago, and was looking forward to doing it again. But I have not dived for over 20 years, so I had a little trepidation about my PADi certification, and lack of diving.

But they said I could get this sorted out, either with a search of PAdI cert and or signing my life away stating that I had my certification.

So off I go. They pick me up at 7:45 Monday am. More than just another day at the office I would say!

First we board the Sea Quest to get out to the reef and then transfer to the Taka for the overnight.

They had a little engine issue, but got it sorted out and soon we were on our way to the reef.

The weather was a bit rainy and the seas rough. A few people were sea sick on the way out. I had been chewing Candied Ginger and felt good!

We did a little gathering and review for the divers with certifications. I talked with the guys on the boat, and they gave me encouragement that on the first dive we would be with a guide and all would be well. So in we went!

As we started out first decent down to the reef, I had a few moments of "panic" as one ear would not clear, but our dive leader was great..... Motioned for me to stay calm, and got it sorted out. But had lots of thoughts flying through my head..... Like what was I thinking .... Yikes. But I stayed calm, and down we got to the reef.... Some nice fish and coral .

Here I am...

The boats photographer was nearby....

Sea Cucumber

The trip included 7 dives total. and the second dive went well for me! Slowed down a bit and started to really enjoy the time underwater!

Got some good video and photos

After we switched to the overnight boat, we had another dive and one planned for the night. Supposed to see lots of fish and sharks! I was really tired so I actually skipped one dive as I needed to rest. But I was encouraged as a few other people also skipped and were asleep on the couches. It is really hard the first day.

Did the night dive, and had video but did not bother with photos as It was pitch black except where your light is. But oof the back of the boat, the fish come up to the lights. Did see reef sharks and lots of big fish about!

The next morning the weather was bester, and the sun came out making the last three dives really great!!

Lots to see and enjoy.

Small ship wreck

Since I bought my photos .... the photographer on the ship included some of his photos .... With an expensive camera and flash, he has amazing photos! I will share them as he said it was ok to do so.

Before each of our dives, we had a briefing and got the rundown of the reef. Since I was not really comfortable, and wanted to enjoy the experience, I took the guides tour each time.

Was really nice to have the sun out. Enjoyed all the people I met on the ship and the time we spent together.

What a great experience! I was done with my 6 dives and celebrated on top deck in the sun!

On the way back to Cairns we say Humpback whales Breeching!

It was an amazing experience to be diving the Barrier Reef!!
So glad I spent the extra money to do it!
