Hi Mark. I still enjoy keeping up with your report, as you get re-acclimated to normal life.

I'm wondering, do you miss the road? Do you ever want to pack up the bike and head back out? For must of us, epic adventures like this can't last forever, so when they end there must be a difficult adjustment.

Thanks,
Walt

Hello Walt.

Thanks for checking in. Will try to answer your question.

I am certainly in a new and challenging time of transition. I always considered my RTW ride as a "chapter" of my life, which means it had a start and an end. I had an amazing experience, and thanks to so many around the world through ADVrider, it was truly EPIC. So one chapter ended, and I need to get on with a new chapter. Do I miss being on the road. Sure. Loved the experiences and I am sure that this will not be my last ride

BUT as with any transition in life, there are reasons. For me, I need to get back to earning a living as I do not have enough money to "retire" at the age of 52. So I am focused on trying to figure out what this will be. Our world and the employment within has really changed in my lifetime. So it is taking time and I am expecting that it will be a while longer as I explore options and try to find a meaningful and interesting place to apply my talents and skills.

Transitions are difficult for all of us. If takes a great deal to face our own situations, try to find the "right Fit" for us. But having lived through caring for my wife Chris with a terminal illness, and then my RTW, I have grown as a man, and will apply the lessons that I have learned into new endeavors.

Will keep posting here as I get resorted out. Then will end this thread.

Cheers! Mark

If it helps at all, there are a lot of us who are employed facing down a similar question: what do we want to do for the rest of our careers. Most of us don't have the awesome experiences you have had over the last several years to draw upon to try to find focus.

Best of luck as you search for the path to your new chapter!

Kevin,

Thanks so much!! Really appreciate your comments! Indeed for so many the working world has changed dramatically! I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunities that I have, I only share my journey as I re-enter the "real" world

Thanks!

Radioman:
Just finished reading the entire RR. It took months! Thanks for feeding us hungry dreamers.
I too have some experience in pre-press graphics...I was a service technician for HELL back in the day...for about 3 years. You people in pre-press know Hell...or the company that used to be! (Seriously, it was called "Hell Graphic Systems"!) I fixed the rotary drum scanners and some of the other prepress proofing systems.

Your report is the main reason that I and a friend are planning to ride from Ohio to Newfoundland and the easternmost point in NA this summer!....and probably drop in on the HU meeting there in July while we are there!

Good luck in your work with Alzheimer's and future endeavors !
Ride safe and thanks again..awesome report!

Best wishes for your Idaho presentations. We have just checked out Flagstaff for your next presentation. It snowed as we rode into town! Gorgeous yesterday as we rode the loop to Grand Canyon.
We think of you as we ride along in this magnificent part of the world. Sedona and Jerome today - along with many riders.
