I just put an E-07 on the rear of my KTM 990. Rode in the wet and the tyre performed well. Wet tar, dry tar, coarse loose sand, riding at 160 kmh on tar, the tyre did well and now has over 1000 km on it. In less than a week

I was happy with it and so put on an E-10 on my BMW 1200.

Just asking because I'm thinking of fitting a set to my 800XC.

the 600ks was all done on one ride... The slides happened at about 500k into the ride... Definitely settled in by then.

Thanks but when I rang one of the larger dealers listed they didn't know what Mitas tires were? There seems to be a disconnect between the dealers and http://www.motorcycletyres.net.au. After being given the run around I just bought a set of dunlop d606 again. Maybe next time I'll have some better luck, it's disappointing does not sell direct to the public any more.

I didn't even try to find a Mitas Dealer...I just went to my local dealer (who mainly stock Bridgestone, Metzler & Michelin) and told them that I wanted a set of Mitas E-09 Dakars.... I had them the next week.

Well just a bit of a progress report on the E07 on the back of my 2010 Super Ten. It has just clicked over 10000k's and its fair shagged and well and truely unroadworthy. I've been very impressed in how it has lasted and stood up to the abuse I have given it, given the bike has a chair hanging off it. Sorry I don't have any photos of it in its current state but it is well below the TWI in the centre of the tyre.

By TWI, do you mean the centre strip?
You can get that almost flush with the carcass before having any grip issues.

Mitas tyres, I've been using them for some time and I'm very happy with them.
I've used E-07's and E-09's on my DR650, and currently have a set of E-08's on my V-Strom. I do however have one gripe. I have yet to find a Mitas "Dealer". All I have come across are motorcycle shops that don't stock them, but "will get them in for you". All they do is ring the supplier. Why can't I do this myself, and cut out the middle man ? A rhetorical question, because the answer is, the supplier has to protect his dealer network !!! What dealer network. It's just a bunch of people ringing him.

Also, since I am in Melbourne on a regular basis it would be easier and more convenient to just to buy some tyres when I was in the area. I don't mind paying retail price, but would be happy to cut out the freight cost. Rant over.

Apologies if all this has been said somewhere else in this thread. But I don't have the patience to go through 40 pages and check. I just had to get it off my chest.

Thumb Mitas rubber.

Mitas tryes, all i can say is that these are good tyres. I've had E-09 dakar & wasn't that fun trying to get it on the rim and now i'm on to my second E-07 rear for DR-piggy. I got 4000 km from my first E-07 but had at least 30% tread left, as i don't run my treads low for safety reasons ( or as low as Nordie boy ) and got 3000 km from the E-09 with 30% tread left.
After researching tyres for dual-sport bikes, Mitas was the way to go and i really like how the E-07 performs in all conditions. I live in SW Victoria, & terrian can change from loam, sand, clay, mud, buck-shot, rocky and hardpack all in the space of 20 km during a ride ( espicalliy in the Grampians) and i can't fault these tyres at all.
I've always had the Mitas paired up with a Pirelli MT-21 front and these things also stick like baby shit to a blanket .

I have found that new Mitas E07 tyres seem to be very slippery on tar roads wet or dry when new & take several hundred km to improve.

Cheers GM.

Mitas E10, E09 Dakar or E07's?

Hey Guys,
So Im looking at a set of Mitas for my F650gs, but which ones? Alot of my riding is commuting to work, but I want something that if i point to a dirt/muddy road I can take it. I got the tourance EXP's on atm and I will probably switch back to them when I dont have any trips planned for a while so they will be more used for the trips on asphalt to wherever and dirt/mud/clay/sand, thats wher i want msot of my grip so i can fling it round like the motoX bike without the tourance EXP's slipping out with zero grip.

So whats your thoughts on these tyres? I was contemplating TKC80's but $500+ a set compared to about $300 fitted.

I heard the E09's had a manufacturing issue where they split down the seem, anyone else had that problem?

Well.. I have E07 on my KLR. I used to have 606 and they amazed me by the way they could hang on when I was on the black top.

When I went to Birdsville last year and it was 90% bitumen.... I changed to E07. They amaze me by how well they work in the dirt. In fact now I have replaced them with another set of E07.

I love them!

First time ever I have replaced tyres like for like. I am always wanting to try something new.. but not this time.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks guys. Ive actually found the Metzeler Karoo's to be cheaper than Mitas and without the quality issues Ive read about. Has anyone else had this issue?

Whats your thoughts on the karoo's vs the E10's?

BTW,slightly OT but, if you want cheaper have a look at Shrinko 705 Radials
Have 1500 klms on a set and cant fault them for general 80% tar 20% dirt tracks riding.
