Question 2007 990 vs. 2011 990

Is there any major difference between a 2007 990 and a 2011 990?
Is there any reason I wouldn't want to buy a 2007 over a 2011??

Thanks

Seems the new ones fuel better, but that may be fixable with TuneECU.

I'm really happy with the fueling on my 2007 with the akra map. Went from 36 to 34 mpg.
You can find used '07s w/ luggage for 8-9k. The new one as configured will be 6k more

Make sure you test ride the 2007 to ensure it odes not have a bad fueling problem! A lot of effort goes into fixing rough fueling and it is hit or miss.

I own a 07 w/ 22k+ mi. I have ridden the '11 at the rally in Moab. No question, the FI system is smother on the new one. Also seems to have a bit more HP, if ya care. Speedo & plastic is different. I believe they worked the water pump issue some more so there may be a lower risk there.

All that said, if you find a farkeled 07 /08 / etc for a good price, I would not hesitate. I find the FI jerkiness issue is a function of rider skill.

I am in SLC if you want to try a ride.

Jim

Me too... I've never noticed an issue with it at all.

+3 on test riding the 2007

some are better than others..

if you buy a 2011 your bike is going to go from 16k with tax to $8,500 (4 years later)

just know that.

Also consider the 950, unless you have to have FI or ABS. Carbs work really well on these bikes. Just something to think of, and not intended as a 'what's better' comment.

+1 on this
If I had it to do again I would get a 2005.5
I do like my abs though
I wish I didn't have the fi
