Clear Creek Pre Gate Lock - KTM 990's Weekend
Well,
We decided to do a quick trip to the clear creek area as the area is getting ready to gate up for the summer. Hopefully not forever, but it sure seems like it used to be a cool place to ride. Pretty much just a few dirt roads open now, and Old Hernandez - with the creek crossing on the flip side. Two Days Riding - over 440 miles total. Once we got down off my favorite 101 slab, we hit the back roads. This was the first time for me on the new KTM 990 on a mini-trip off road. The old one got destroyed in an accident in January. BNRP also had a major spill on the freeway, so was riding his fixed up 990 R. Needless to say it's time to try and get over that and move on. Sweet back roads. ![]() Da Gang ![]() Good to get out of the Bay Area ![]() "I hate BLM - Land Closures" ![]() ![]() Bert was happy, he was joyous, he had gas and water for the thirsty beast. Too bad the bolt was to sheer and all go bye bye... ![]() Yes Countour is the group favorite ![]() Hey where did your gas tanks go? GONE. Bolt Sheered. ![]() Not even in the dirt yet... ![]() We stopped to asses the damage..at least it was absolutely awesome back here. ![]() OK, well F..... that, no fix, lost cause. ![]() The White R model with ABS. ![]() Some guy with us on a BMW 800GS....haha. ![]() Not bad for pavement ![]() Old Mines ![]() Orange is KTM, but Orange is BMW ![]() Clear Creek - Sweet area, sweet views. ![]() ![]() We found some Captain, so we "kept" it. ![]() ![]() I am liking this.....since I'll be traveling for work for 10 days straight next. ![]() ![]() Fun times ![]() It's such a great area - to be a huge shame to have to buy a permit to ride back here at all... ![]() Old signs fade away ![]() ![]() The man, the myth, - he rides, he falls, he loses parts, but seems to fix it all. ![]() My personal fav ![]() Ride the moon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We did Old Hernandez road to the creek, thinking it would be as usual. As we found, a bit wider and deeper than normal. ![]() ![]() And...where I have seen people cross prior, someone has fenced that area off to guide them away from crossing. ![]() ![]() hmmmmm ![]() OK, go see how deep it is....Paul ![]() Past knees and sinking into mud... ![]() "I'd do it..." ![]() Water speed - - fairly swift. ![]() ![]() Scorpions = Opted out this time. Plus there is a fence where the narrow crossing used to be, and the water is high, muddy, and full of cow piss.. ![]() Drop off into the water - ![]() These guys wanted us to try.... they wanted to see another bike drown.... ![]() ![]() Day 2: Carmel valley road ![]() ![]() TONS of purple ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It was a good overnight ride, weather was perfect. Let's just all try to support keeping as many of these dirt roads open as possible.

Nice report on the big twins...
I stumbled on to this area from local inmates... happy to see more big bikes riding it.

Tell them to FedEx you a damn bolt or you will ensure nobody ever buys their products again.
