Allow me to help you nOObs with a little tag history.........

It was waaaaay back in the summer of aught eight.......25 of July I recall. A soon to be Cat Herder ventured out into the dark to play Virginia Tag-O-Rama. The adventure began here.....

Back there in the day, few were bold enough to wander up Broke Back Mountain for this tag because, well, labels are hard to shake here on ADV Rider.

twohawked: verb
Grabbing the wrong f___king tag.

So let me take ya'all back to that fateful trip twohawks took up Broke Back Mountain....

This was the tag........

........an' I'll let twohawks tell the rest in his own words......I mean, as long as we're just sitting here waiting, we may as well be telling stories, right? Funny, there was a lotta sittin', smokin' an' jokin' going on back then, too......

Each of the Oriskany Sands markers has a slightly different inscription. A quick check of the WV historical marker thread would tell the tale. In this case it is the one just outside of Hanging Rock on rt 50.

Well you didn't have to tell us where it was but hey, what the heck

Grab!

Man, those rocks in the creek were slicker than owl s#*t! Lucky in his time capsule...

Saw this little feller down the road a ways

I had a great ride today! A little bit of everything.
It was warm and sunny up to grab this tag. Then things went South...as I headed North.
New tag in a few. Lucky moved a fair distance but it's not to an easy grab(& run) site for sure. Your going to have to work for it.
I'll fill ya in on all the juicy details in a few...

Edit: I looked on google street view in that exact short straight stretch of Rt 50 twice! I knew the creek and the road very well in that spot. The sign is fairly new because the speed limit sign shows but not the marker sign...I been wanting to go grab this thing for the last three weeks now.

Start in a town that is famous for a tunnel in another state and head East past the old train station.
Go past this sign...

Past this retaining wall. It's a long one! I wonder whats on top?

Continue past this trestle...

Beware of the rednecks!

There is a dog up in the community that came at me but I roosted his ass! Here's a close up..

Continue past this trestle...yes there is a trestle in the pic. Stay left...

Just past that trestle take this left...

Notice the small concrete block to the left of the bike? This is how far you go past the trestle...

Now, if you're still with me, take that trail down to this clearing...the money shot!
Pay attention to the tree on the right in the pic

You can see on the right side, a stump attached to the tree. These two on the bottom right ..

Look between them...

Oh, BTW, stay tuned! If ya want to get even dirtier,

there is another tag in the vicinity.
I will post a link after I create it.

EDIT: One other thing...a lot of the road is in good shape but every now and then there are spots where the front end can get squirrely! Most spots are past this tag but there is one just past the redneck riviera that almost took me out.

Here is the post for the other tag!

That looks like some nice riding. It won't last long there.

Awesome ride! Thanks so much for choosing such a neat spot. Even though it was raining this morning I headed out because I knew it wouldn't last long. I didn't go for the second tag because I wanted someone else to get to have some fun. Regardless I recommend a visit to this spot! I'll definitely be back when I have more time for some serious exploration.

Grab

Tag
I feel guilty that I don't know of such a sweet spot so instead I give you this. It's somewhere along the road that's digits add up to 10 between the WV border and it's intersection with a road that's digits add up to 11. Another way to look at it is it's between a Fork and a Cross. Your doing good when you get close. There is a picture of the marker on google earth as a final clue. Let me know if you need more.

Man, that was quick!
I didn't know for sure if the spot would be good, bad or ugly. Glad you liked it! I see you didn't cheat and take the real road in.
I took Lucky back in there to make sure it was good to go, then came back out and grabbed the Hardcore tag, then went right back in there past Lucky and finally to the Hardcore tag spot.
You really should have grabbed both and finished the "tour".

Don't feel guilty. That's a great spot! I only set it back in there cause I was short on time...I was hoping no one would complain since it's not THE best spot for a street bike to get to but it IS posible.
I'll have to sit down tonight and try and figure out where it is.

So what area do you live in?
