all kinds of good stuff around Max Patch: easy fast gravel, nice dirt, creek crossings, fs roads with woops, good paved back roads, ... and slime

Mmmmm. Slime I'm not particularly savvy offroad. The KLR is a pig...A very faithful pig...but a pig nonetheless. I'll be up that way on most weekends, so hopefully I'll get to see some of that easier stuff real soon But I'll stay away from slime....

I've already been told by a certain orange kool aid drinking person that Hurricane Creek is not a good intro to off road. I said I was game (you only live once, right?) The aforementioned orange Koolaid drinker still refused....probably a wise thing to listen to their advice.

HC is the perfect intro to off road. Ride it east to west, then turn around and ride it back up. And very doable on the KLR...

I third the motion, Hurricane is about as good as it gets for a beginner off-roader. My girlfriend more or less learned how to ride her DR200 off road on that road. And that was after it rained 3" the night before. The creek crossings were like river crossings!

Hurricane's really not that bad when it's dryer, might be a handful right now. I don't think anyone's referred to us as being wise, this is definitely the "Hey Bubba watch this crowd".

Very nice pics in your Day Trippin' thread! I'm going to have to get back down there soon.

I don't think y'all understand...I truly am a complete off road newb. Or...perhaps you all understand that perfectly, hence all the clamoring for me to ride HC. Bastards!

To give you another idea of just how narrowly focused my riding experience has been: After more than 100,000 (accident free) road miles on my various motorcycles, I rode with a passenger for the first time 3 weeks ago. Even rode as a passenger for a couple miles...
