Don's Dargo Ride 20110528

Ride report in developement

Four of us headed for the high plains last Friday night. It had been wet and wintery all week - so the prospect of good conditions up in the hill didnt look good. But as we got north of Moe - the rain stopped and things didnt look to bad.

Over nighted in Licola -

A look in side the snore central

Saturday moring - up and at it by 8.00 am. Superb morning start - Just proves dont always make a decision on going on a tirp based on the weather at home

Rode up tamboretha - over the range to top of Zeka Spur. Headed down Zeka

Heres some video of some of Zeka

Some video of the track at the bottom and down in the Valley

Lunch at the homestead site where we waited for Tezza and his mates..

With the group now 7, we headed off for Wombat track, Badluck for Craig though, he dropped his bike in the drink. See the video for the quick recovery work of Tezza and Matt to help him get the 640 out of the current.

Some water pissing out of the air box

And some dewatering action

In the video - you can see i didnt have much time to catch the action - but i did fluke a cracker of a shot of Matt

Anyway after some time dewatering, ( a couple of times ) we got moving again. We headed up Wombat, Cynthia, and on into Dargo.

We stayed at Pams B&B. Heres a shot of Brute checking out the inside of his eyelids

The next morning, we were into it. Looking forward to the ride was Craig, looking happy about the prospect of riding..

We got our supplies and headed up ________track , to link and Brute and I split off going down Conways and off to Billy Goats.

Conways was about the steepest track ive been down, but thanks to the lack of weight on board and the new tyres – i got down with ease.

Here's some video of Brute and I heading up Billy Goats from the bottom up to the helipad ( which is about 30% or the total climb)

Brute and I then went towards the Arbuckle junction, but turned off to check out Millers hut the track that lead to the top of the Sentinal. A fantastic detour. Talk about a bone shaking ride. Even a bit of the white stuff around.

After checking out the hut and the Sentials. We head back down across the creek.

Back to Licola. Picked up the truck and headed home. Another great weekend in the high country..

Thumb Nice Report!

On orange in the High Country and no dust! What could be better?
Thanks for the memories. So you didn't push on to the top of Billy Goats......

How did you rate the 690s?

Yes we pushed on to the top and then on to Arbuckle junction. The SD card in the helmet cam had run out by then.

The 690s are tops. But youve got to have some work done on the sus before they perform at their best.

Really enjoyed that. I'm spewing I didn't get any rides in up that way before this really cold and snowy part of the season has hit. I'll see what I can do in the winter though!
