Cliff Notes

A few folks have emailed, pm'd, etc wanting the cliff notes...here goes

Thursday June 7th
-meet late afternoon, early evevning at the campground
-Dakar presentation around 7 pm
-Food is available
-Gas is not (show up with a full tank)

Friday June 8th
-ride follows gps track files
-400+- km's
-trails and gravel roads
-approx 7-10 hours ride time
-campground has no food nor gas, show up with food or a full belly and a full gas tank

Saturday June 9th
-ride starts witha ferry into Quebec
-600 +- ride
-twisty scenic roads (gravel, sandy, paved)
-approx ride time 10-13 hours (get an early start)
-campground has a small store (munchies and wine)
-campground has fuel (expensive, recommend not showing uop with an empty tank)

Sunday June 10th
-2 routes provided
-one is a paved twisty route
-one is a gravel/trails route
-both routes end up at a ferry back into Ontario (30 minutes south of the city of Ottawa)

Pre riding will inevitiably have adjustments to gps files so please double check a week before leaving

A small fee to help with the Dakar presentation

Very informal ride, no official support vechicels, sweep riders, etc...AKA YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN

Be careful, remote trails and roads. We recommend riding in pairs in case of an emergency

GPS files are simpluy a recommended route. No guarantees they can be travelled, we try our best but in the end the choice is yours if you want to follow them or not. We take NO liability, this is not an organized ride.

Focus is on having fun, meeting new people and exploring new places

last year we had about 60 bikes, guessing this year will be about 100 bikes.

A few informal support trucks may be available for carrying gear or beer

Water crossing are on the route for day one. Depending on weather they may be deep

Bring a well sorted bike, carry supplies and spares to fix your bike, ensure youy can cover the distances fuel wise, dont race as public roads and trails are utlized (aka expect oncoming traffic).

If you have a shitty attitude and expect to be "looked after" this is not the event for you

Once you have registered (aka paid the small entery fee) you get a link to a download that has the gps files, maps, info, etc

When you show up at the campground on the Thursday afternoon please "check in" with one of us. We'll cross your name off the list and provide a decal. We ask that you apply the decal on your bike (shows you paid). See a bike without a decal....cut the gas lines

Cya in June

Paved one is about a 2 hour ride, gravel is about a 6 hour ride. Paved one is a get me out of here as I have a long way to ride to get home route. That being said part of it is a great twisty road

day_3dirt_a track tells me 129 miles. i do not recognize the non-dirt day 3 routes - sadly they won't load in my copy of basecamp. a box keeps popping up telling me to "ride the dirt not the bitumen".

I'll eschew tarmac for Friday and Saturday, but Sunday is going to be the day of homeward burnination. Unless I can make the six hour gravel in to a four hour

That kinda summed on what we were thinking...most folks have a heck of a ride home so the "get me outta here" route was/is provided.

I am usually fairly generous with my time frames...aka when I say 6 hours it can usually be done in 3 kind of a thing if you arent taking photos, etc
