If you do show up a day early, try the tech section from this years rally called Triple Tower. It would make a fun day ride from Ottawa :)

Regarding our thoughts. Any route you pick is where I will go. If group is good with June30-July2 then that is when I will go there. Loop or not I want to see that Museum. Maybe I go see it a few days before Ottawa, that would get me there during the week and when I am not covered in dust which is probably better for them.

should we pick a date to make a first posting that lists the dates?
I will be list keeper if desired. Just means someone needs to add an image location in the first post that points to the image I will put up for the list

Dates are TBD but I think a bit later in the year might be better (less water and better chance of hot sunny weather)

PROPOSED DATES

START DATE - Leaving Ottawa
June 30th, Saturday

Return to Ottawa
July 2nd, Monday

For our friends south of the border this gives you the 3rd and 4th to get home which should work with your July 4th holiday. For us Canadians the Monday (July 2nd) is a holiday so most of us wouldnt need to use any vacation time.

THOUGHTS?

Maybe I missed it,,, but do you have an idea of the fuel stops? I came close a couple times on the first ride and need to start thinking of adding capacity.

Just off the top of my head I know of three sections of 200 km's between gas stops (and no bail outs to go somewhere mid way). There may be one more a bit longer...

Well we rode day one and it was excellent. Sand, dust, hills, crash

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...postcount=1658

There was one tech section and it was great. Narrow, rocks, hills, multiple washouts, etc

I "think" it may be the onlytech section of the weekend....might find one more.

Don't see water being an issue next year. Sandy roads, some distance and dust on the other hand

Well, sore as heck and in a great deal of pain, this route making is hard work . Off to hospital in the morning as the pain keeps getting worse

You're going to have to take it easy for a while there Ted. I've had cracked ribs and they take a lot of rest to heal up, usually. The tough part is you can't really lie down comfortably. Or roll over. Or sit. Or much of anything, actually.

200km is about it for the SE as long as I keep the throttle tame. Guess I need to start thinking about it.

Heal up well!!
