I have a friend who has a commercial Fedex account and can probably get a decent deal on the shipping. Maybe we could ship you Agent Red's shock if he is agreeable.

Let me know,
Geoff

In this thread if you look at Post #105 you can see the way they fixed a broken shock over in Russia in a remote village.

I do not know how broken your shock is, but I just thought I would post it.

Ok man, relax.
I am in Mexico as well, on the west side. I have a shock in my garage in SF.
My riding buddy sold his KLR here, complete with shock. We could take it off and get it to you or we can organize someone in SF to ship mine down but it will take a few weeks.

Failing that, my trip is almost done. If I can get my shock to you from my bike, I am happy ditching my bike and flying home and coming back with a shock in a few months.

If I get to La Paz, finding someone to pick my bike up and bringing it back to SF would be easier.

PM me your email and lets go over the options. I feel your pain.

Maybe you've got this in hand already, but one way to get on the road is to have a local torch man weld you up a hard-tail strut. Then when you get your hands on a shock you can bolt it in. ADV inmate Luke reported on this fix a few years ago in his RR. Rode from central Mexico back to New York State in February on a hard-tail KLR. Not the most comfy, but it worked.

Silly question

Does it matter what year KLR you have? I know not much has changed over the years for the KLRs, but just making sure they are all the same. My buddy said he would call his brother in the AM (1/16/12).
