Bodo's, Sat. Noon...was...KTM dealer in Charlottesville?

Is there a KTM dealer in Charlottesville?

I'm coming down next weekend (February 25-26) to visit my son. He's a third year resident in Surgery at UV.

Any of you fellows want to gather for a "spring" get together at a local dealer, then, perhaps go for a little dual sport ride? I could bring my SnoTard down to meet some of you folks:

Or, I could put the knobbies back on, and you could show me some dirt. My son says there are great trails around the city.

Maybe Saturday at noon? Then ride when it warms up a little?

The AdvRiders in Albuquerque had such a gathering last weekend when I went to visit my daughter. Check out:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Charlottesville is the "dead zone" for motorcycle dealers. No KTM. Jarman's Sportcycles is a Yamaha/Suzuki dealer but I have a Vstrom and it didn't come from there... We do have a Vespa/Piaggio dealer!
KTM in Front Royal, Fredericksburg, Richmond. Front Royal is a high dollar Harley clone shop with a few KTM's in front. I was just in there Tuesday asking KTM questions and got "we don't know much about KTM's". I think the one knowledgeable individual was on the phone. 950 stocking dealer but they don't have one.

What he said.

Used to be a Honda dealer here, but I'd guess it's been gone for ten years.

I'm always up for a ride, but I'm a dirt n00b and don't know of many places to ride dirt. Although, I do know of a lot of good paved roads around here to ride ...

Actually, I do, and that's me in the upper right hand corner of the home page.

So, I guess there isn't a BMW dealer either, huh?

How about just a coffee place to meet on Saturday so you fellows can show me a few maps of the area and point me in the right direction?

I know a bunch of those fellas. Hell, I might have met you at a track day at VIR in '03, when I pitted next to several of those guys who had come down for the weekend. (The day I'm thinking of, Frank S. crashed several times as well as won some kind of 50cc race.)

Sure, we can meet anywhere. You probably know the 'Corner' area, as it's right across the street (practically) from the hospital. There's a Starbucks there that's easy to find, and you can usually park a few bikes out front. If you'd rather have breakfast, there are several good spots to do so as well. And hopefully someone else who knows where the good D/S roads are will be able to make it as well ...

No BMW dealership here. Thank goodness. One weak moment (i.e. "Lemme just sit on this ...") would do my wallet in.

I'm a local so I know most of the roads around here. However, my Strom is for sale and is all clean and shiny in the garage. I hope to convince someone to take it home soon!
Buzz Grimmboy, SST or Poonie, they're usually up for a ride. Chris has the DRZ all serviced, Transalp should be about ready also. If the Transalp's done maybe I can bum his DRZ...

Well, here I am at VIR with Mark and Jack from STMC:

And here's our pit area:

Not sure it was the same session with TPM.

How about a meet next Saturday at noon, then maybe a little ride around the neighborhood. I bet it will be 60 degrees!

jck22903 (jack, I presume?), you want to start a new thread and talk your local buddies into showing up. You pick the place. I'm pretty familiar with Charlottesville. Any place would be fine.

I'll be up for a ride so long as SW Moto can get my freaking tires here. If Not I'll just ride my DRZ.

So, will someone pick a time (hopefully about 12, so it can warm up a little before the ride) and place for a gathering in or near Charlottesville?

Street? Big Trailie? Dual Sport? Need to know which tires to put on the motard.

I'd say mount the dual sport tires and meet at Bodo's, what say sst, harpoon, jck, oldnogps????? Let's do the fire roads in and arround C'ville.

Harpoon can only come if he get's the Bob Villa-never ending project completed.

Perhaps JCK can get us a deal on left-overs for lunch.

Bodo's the bagel place on 29? That's about three minutes from my son's place. See if this map shows the correct location:

I'll buy the bagels if you folks will be gentle on my!

That sounds awesome -- something I've been wanting to do since I got my KLR ('cause I don't know any of those roads ...).

Since I seem to have only stirred up a bunch of tire-kickers and picture collectors it appears the Strom will be around. I'll try to make it also.
