Nick Sanders double Pan Am record ride
Hi ADVRider
Guess what? Nick Sanders is going for his final record. He starts tomorrow from Prudhoe Bay and is aiming to ride to Ushuaia AND BACK in record time. You may recall his attempt last year ended prematurely after a robbery but he is back to try again. I will post his blogs directly on to ADVRider......when I can work out how to do it! Meantime you can read about it on his website. Please support him! He is a great character and a true British eccentric .....and a brilliant ambassador for motorcycling. Thanks and cheers!

The last entry on the blog he was in Peru with a sick support vehicle and a couple of busted riders. A bit behind on the blog is he? ![]() Cheers Graham

Ride update
Hi and thanks
This ride is on a Super Tenere and yes it is both ways and YES! he has just finished taking clients from Ushuaia to Tok! So, all in all he will be doing the route THREE times. The blogs will be updated before he blogs this trip so you will get the story on how the last journey ended. It was very eventful towards the end.....a little trouble in Mexico. Nick is going to ask Guinness to re-open their motorcycle records. As I'm sure you know they were persuaded to close them down some time ago (due to concerns such records were too dangerous I believe) so his last world record was never verified by them although it was fully documented for submission. None of the recent record Pan Am rides have been submitted to Guinness either (by both American and Canadian citizens) and Guinness has a very outdated 34 day ride recored as the fastest.....although it has been done several times since MUCH quicker - the most recent is 21 and a bit days. That is the record Nick wants to beat. Also no one has ever attempted to do it both ways non-stop. Above all he hopes you will find it entertaining and maybe you will buy the book and film when they come out so he can finance this madness! Both out in the autumn. He would also love to do a lecture/film show in the UK AND the USA very soon.....would any of you be interested??? He is a great showman and very entertaining. Thanks so much for your support and time.....I know you'd all rather be out riding than reading this!

I came really close to doing one of his tours a couple years ago and it fell through on my end. I'd love to come meet him and see him speak!

I've met Nick couple of times and read most of his books, the man is a legend and in my opinion a fantastic ambassador for the sport of long distance motorcycling.
Go Nick go ![]() ![]()

The ride starts Sunday 4 am local time!
Thanks guys for some wonderful comments.
We are all very nervous here back in the UK...especially after our recent terrifying experience in Mexico. Nick is now only 2 hours from Prudhoe Bay. He will get a few hours rest and then turn round and head south to start the record. Even after 30 years riding he feels he still has to prove himself so this is the big one. Safety is uppermost in his mind and ours too. He has a Spot tracker on his website. However we will suspend it temporarily from public view when he crosses certain countries. This really is the final record attempt. His three lovely kids are only too aware of what he does and hate him being away from home. I have the wonderful Mark working on the website to put up a 'count up clock' so you can see how close Nick is to getting the record at all times. I will do my best to post a few photos and Nick wants me to post a blog for him. He is filming and taking photos too along the way. GO NICK GO!!! ![]() ![]()
